What The West Needs To Know About Islam
Islam is "the religion of peace" like I'm the next pontiff.
The basis of Muslim violence is actually the Koran, which is to be taken literally, and the life of the pedophile and genocidal serial killer Mohammed, which is to be imitated by Muslims without question. Per Bill Warner in The New English Review:
Everything in Islam is based upon the Koran (what Mohammed claimed that his god, Allah, said) and the words and deeds of Mohammed (called the Sunna). A Muslim repeats endlessly, "There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet." The Koran repeats again and again that Mohammed is the model or pattern for the ideal Muslim. A Muslim is not someone who worships Allah. A Muslim is someone who worships Allah exactly like Mohammed worshipped Allah. So every Muslim is a Mohammedan. There are absolutely no exceptions.
Here's a terrific film, "What The West Needs To Know" (in English, with Dutch subtitles), featuring Robert Spencer and others, detailing how, among other things, Islam mandates violence against non-believers.
The film starts out starts out with bi-partisan lies -- George Bush, Condoleeza Rice, and Bill Clinton lying to the American people about the nature of Islam, and Colin Powell in a cutaway as bobble-headed yes man.
This is a must-watch, especially for anybody who's brought kids into the world in the past few decades.
In Spencer's words, "There may be peaceful and moderate Muslims but there is no peaceful and moderate Islam."

Amy, you kick ass.
To get a sense for how Islam so closely ties religion and violence, Winston Churchill's The River War is helpful. It predates political correctness. Some of Churchill's observations are amzingly prescient.

Jeff, thanks for the heads up on the Churchill book. When I read the passage I could only think "everything old is new again". Amazon has copies at a good price and I'm buying it tonight. For what it's worth Newt G gave it a four star review.

The sooner the world wakes up to this and gets the courage to stand up to it the less blood will be spent. Prolonging the realization will cost many more lives.

Another excellent film is "Farewell Israel" by Joel Gilbert.
http://tinyurl.com/2z94vv
It is so jam-packed with information, that I was very grateful for the pause button on my dvd player.
Here's one of the reviews on Amazon:
"By Donald N. Anderson (Anchorage, Alaska)
It contains the most historically accurate depiction of the legal and political side of Islam that I have seen in video form. By not employing taqiyya as Muslims are wont to do when talking with Westerners, it carefully shows Islamic thinking with respect to Jews, Christians and other infidels. It shows the special tradeoffs of dihimmi status and the peace that is available under Dar al-Islam.
Gilbert does a remarkable job of selecting pieces of Islam's historical record to give the viewer an excellent appreciation for the thinking of Muslims about their relationship to god and their earthly duties and opportunities.
He generally presents accurate information and lets the viewer form his own opinion and recommended course of action. One possible exception is the authors implication that if Israel had not been formed, and had Bush not invaded the Middle East in retaliation for 9/11, the coming war could have been avoided.
This film does an excellent job of showing how the enemy thinks (and it's not just the few folks who are fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq).
I was blown away by the quality and quantity of information about political Islam contained in this 2.5 hour video. Joel Gilbert has produced by far the best video documentary on the topic of Jihad and Islam I have ever seen. It is probably about too serious and sensitive a topic to receive a well deserved award for the best documentary of 2007. I would not trade it for a half dozen of the books on fundamentalist Islam that I have read.
Every American and everyone else in Dar al Harb needs to see this film to appreciate the seriousness and duration of the battles we are now fighting."

He pissed me off a couple times but I miss Joe. I hope he got to be as rich as he was planning to get to be.

There has been an attempt to through intimidation shut down the distribution of Fitna on the internet. I encourage everyone to resist -- ensure its ubiquity with Bittorrent.

Wow, I have a new-found respect for Bush. After watching Fitna and Will Israel Bomb Iran (6 part BBC series on Youtube) I realize what a good strategist he is (or at least the members of his cabinet) because Iraq was such a push over and it happens to be right in the heart of extreme Islam. We will be paying Iran a visit next. Go-Bush-go! I might seem like a war monger, but if you see the possibilities, then it is the world vs. Islam. They are only humoring western societies with their peaceful religion lies and I can imagine that Bush is only playing dumber than he usually is. Look into it for yourself...
Why was September 11 the day Islam fanatics chose?
At the siege of Vienna, 9/11/1683 Islam seemed poised to overrun Europe.
We are in a new phase of a very old war.

Dear Amy. This is a documentary, and just like any other documentary, it is skewed to what the producer wants to tell people.
I saw you at the Festival of Books and should have talked some sense into your white american brain.
john at April 27, 2008 7:31 PM
Uh, right. You were going to tell me, what? That Islam is this sweet, gentle religion that preaches that non-Muslims should be allowed to live as they choose? And you were maybe were going to add that there aren't a great many Muslims who want to kill, convert, or dhimmi tax "the infidel" and take away our rights?
As for my "white american brain" -- what's that about? I don't care what kind of silly religious bullshit people want to believe in as long as they aren't murdering a lot of other people in the name of their particular bullshit.
Feel free to enlighten all of us here with your great genius and the "truth" about Islam.
Amy Alkon at April 27, 2008 8:32 PM
That phrase "white american brain" says a lot about john in just three words, but none of it is good. (White european brain, me, just for the record.)
You missed your chance at the Festival of Books, but you can post here. Please talk some sense into us. I can't promise an easy ride, but (if you ignore the occasional rant that any open forum attracts) you'll get a fair and thorough examination.
