And the day after that poor dog died, this happened:
“They had no idea where the dog was,” Swindle said. “I burst into tears instantly because this has just all been a whirlwind. They didn’t know (where Irgo was) until 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday when the plane landed in Japan.”
Swindle said Irgo — who was flying for the first time — had no water or food on the 16-plus hours flight to Japan. Irgo is suffering from an ear infection and hasn’t had medication in three days, she said.

The news hasn't given as cause of death and I'm not sure I understand how the dog died. The overhead bin is in the pressurized portion of the plane and as far as I can tell, is not airtight - so lack of oxygen wouldn't be the cause.

In short, the Chinese government was literally funding a business that it co-owned along with the sons of two of America’s most powerful decision makers.
The partnership between American princelings and the Chinese government was just a beginning. The actual investment deals that this partnership made were even more problematic. Many of them would have serious national security implications for the United States.
No pics of the turtle, so we dont know how large it is, no word on the breed/age of the puppy

Due to stratospheric-to-ludicrous housing costs, it looks like dormitories are making a comeback in San Francisco. A firm called StarCity is offering rooms for $1,400 to $2,400 per month, fully furnished with utilities. Renters get 130 to 220 square feet, plus communal kitchens and bathrooms.
Considering cost and location, a guess setting up rooming houses is probably as good a solution as you're going to find, until somebody raises a fuss about it.
By contrast, I checked the cost of apartments in Crystal City, Virginia (the part of Arlington near the Pentagon): Rates for studios start at around $1,600 per month, but you get your own bathroom.

Dorm rooms for the middle class? By definition, if you're beyond college age and you're living in a communal dorm, you no longer get to call yourself middle class. You're what Paul Fussell would have called "bottom out-of-sight."

FIU pedestrian bridge collapses days after installation; police say multiple deaths, cars trapped
Bridge collapses are generally tricky things to diagnose after the fact. This one will be a bit easier, since it hadn't even opened for use.
So: shoddy design, shoddy material, shoddy construction, or more likely some combination of the above. Oh, and it's Miami/Dade, so add in some shoddy inspectors.
On the one had, these are not federal fugitives. On the other, they do have an open arrest warrant so maybe putting them in NICS is prudent?
Fugitives from justice are barred from buying a firearm under federal law. But what is a fugitive from justice? That definition has been under debate by the FBI and the ATF.

Which can only mean that Twitter and youtube find the opinions and speech of LGBT people in an of itself offensive and bigoted
