The Physically Safer The World Gets, The More Authoritarian We Get About Emotionally "Unsafe" Things
This seems to be a pattern -- one I notice more and more.
Colleges are now big padded dens tending to the emotional "safety" of students -- protecting them from that evil fucker Plato and anything and everything else the little fragile dears might deem "triggering."
And now, from the BBC:
A teenager who posted rap lyrics which included racist language on Instagram has been found guilty of sending a grossly offensive message.Chelsea Russell, 19, from Liverpool posted the lyric from Snap Dogg's I'm Trippin' to pay tribute to a boy who died in a road crash, a court heard.
Russell argued it was not offensive, but was handed a community order.
Prosecutors said her sentence was increased from a fine to a community order "as it was a hate crime."
She was charged after Merseyside Police were anonymously sent a screenshot of her update.
...The words Russell used on her account contained a racial label which some people find extremely offensive.
It's the fucking "N" word, which is about as rare in rap as corn is in a cornfield.
I'm Trippin lyrics here.
Russell was found guilty of sending a grossly offensive message by a public communication. She was given an eight-week community order, placed on an eight-week curfew and told to pay costs of £500 and an £85 victim surcharge.
How is much of what runs on the radio in the UK not a crime?
And note that when there are laws against everything, they can be used to get revenge against just about anyone.

I see "the 'N' word" can't be shown here, either.
So the American (at least) public (in its hypocrisy) doesn't want you to use that word, either.

A worse crime is to dislike non-white art.

"Freedom of speech" and "hate speech" cannot exist together in any universe.

I think that, in general, humans are hard-wired to need drama and conflict. If we don't have it, we create it. Anthropologists hypothesize that gossip is why humans developed speech and language.

Best not to assume you know my motivations.
It could be shown here but I hate it and hate how it's used in rap, so I only linked to it.

When lynchings were somewhat common and discrimination against blacks normal 'black rage' didn't exist. Despite all that provocation it wasn't a thing. It is when things got better that 'black rage' became common. People respond to incentives. When getting publicly angry got you killed people didn't do it. When getting publicly angry got you lauded and rewarded it became common place.
Same issue here. When life it tougher the rest of us don't have the resources to respond to 'woke' issues. If you stop rewarding them then they will stop what they are doing.
On this specific incident, is the UK law written in a race neutral form? How do you lodge a complaint? Can people start lodging them against any radio station that plays rap? Against all rap artists? If not can they lodge them against prosecutors and police for their blatantly racist application of the law? As many have said before the best way to get rid of a bad law is to enforce it equally and widely. When the favored people get hit they will support removing the law.

In many areas the human brain works by comparing things. Noises are loud compared to quiet. Colors are perceived by comparison to other colors. Danger also is relative. If you have never encountered wild animals or been in a fight or ridden a horse, then little things may scare you. That is what these kids are suffering from: nothing to compare to. There was an interesting study that during the Nazi occupation in Holland, depression and mental illness went down. How in the world? Well, daily life fully occupied everyone and compared to the external troubles, the internal emotional troubles seemed smaller. Now we have the opposite: college students losing their minds over chalk on the sidewalk because they have no real hardship to compare it to.

"Best not to assume you know my motivations"
Really? In over ten years, I haven't noticed you usually don't care what people think while you make your point?
"It could be shown here but I hate it and hate how it's used in rap, so I only linked to it."
Okay. The above incident is the PC Police making sure the subjects know who is in charge, in a nation which has never had a First Amendment. It would happen all over the USA if not for that.

Possible analog to what seems to be the explanation for the current explosion of childhood allergies: that children's immune systems are never getting properly calibrated because they are being raised in surroundings that are too clean. Their super-powerful immune systems are born ready to engage with a steady barrage of super-powerful threats. Remove those threats and these same super-powerful immune systems are start going off on the whatever looks like it might be a threat, even if it is a perfectly healthy food, so long as the immune system does not react to it.
The same thing could be happening with the human psyche. Built to do battle in a world full of confrontation with real threats, this same aggressively defensive psyche is liable to start attacking perfectly benign things, thereby becoming the aggressive danger, similar to the allergic responses of an improperly calibrated immune system.
A key culprit here would certainly be the "zero tolerance" "anti-bullying" policies that have dominated every level of public K-12 for twenty+ years now. No kid has been allowed to criticize another kid on pain of being kicked out of school. Obama added an affirmative action component to it. Minority kids can’t be kicked out of school even for stoving a teacher’s head in while white kids still face zero tolerance for criticizing anyone, and these are the kids who are populating our colleges.
The white kids have internalized this absolute rule that they CANNOT criticize anyone, at least any minority, or anyone who can claim in any way to be part of a victimized minority. The combination of anti-bullying and affirmative action is the mechanism that has been used to impose the doctrine of “intersectionality” on all school children. Intersectionality means “power to the minority,” or the rule of the minority. It is the exact opposite of republicanism, the form of government guaranteed by our Constitution (see the article IV section 4 guarantee to the states that they “shall have a republican form of government”).
Republicanism means first and foremost that the people shall choose who shall represent them, with the will of the people being determined by majority vote. The left, being the minority, seeks to replace majority rule with minority rule, and they have succeeded in building this ideology into our public school system.
When our children graduate K-12 and go on to college, no one has to convince them that minority rule is a rational or moral system. They have had this inculcated into them as a premise for their entire young lives, a premise that has been strictly enforced by the severest penalties. Conform or you are OUT, kicked out of society, kicked out of the world. You can’t go to school.
So not JUST an uncalibrated immune system parallel. Instead, immune systems are being intentionally set to attack what is most benign. Children are being taught to hate what is moral. Do not judge! But judgement is the essence of morality. Do not be critical! But criticism is the essence of morality.
Except that these barriers to judgement are one sided. Students ARE allowed to criticize any normal, moral, rational way of thinking, anything that has long been embraced by the majority of our liberty-loving country. These things CAN be attacked because only minorities are protected.
There is not a complete suppression of the human readiness to contest, just a ruthless state-sanctioned suppression of one side of this contest. The majority must shut up. Only the minority can criticize. Only minority views are legitimate and can be heard. Thus does an anti-small-“r”-republican youth emerge, an anti-American youth, fighting for minority over majority rule.
The ½ of 1% that wants to pretend they are of the other sex must control bathroom policy for the nation! The rights of the majority, meaning everything that is properly settled by majority rule, which is everything except for actual individual rights, is nothing but an enemy to be disempowered according to the intersectional minority-rule doctrine that is being forcefully imposed starting with all K-12!

Tomorrow our town will hold an election seeking to reverse the total ban on fireworks possession or discharge.
Before the original ban was to come into effect, some citizens instigated a signature referendum and called for a special election to reverse the city council's ban. Opposition was mostly from the usual liberal crowd regurgitating the old "What about the children? The children, the Children!!" Safety safety...
The Yes faction who started the initiative mostly was preserving our tradition, free speech and liberty and for organizations like youth baseball and the Lion's Club who raise funds through fireworks sales. Fireworks are part of American Culture. It rains here all the time so I don't see real risk in lighting off sparklers and cones.
Experience shows that when fireworks are unavailable people drive out to the tribal lands and purchase Reservation Grade (one step down from Military Issue) fireworks and blow off even more "dangerous" ones.
At the main intersection in town, the "No" supporters brought all these young children holding the keep us safe signs with them to carry the sympathy and the "save the children" rubric.
Someone, taking exception to these folks trying to take our rights away bellowed out "pussies!"
That pretty much said it all about the situation.
Fireworks: The last hurrah in voicing freedom.

Yes. Nobody said that we're wiser or better people. At most, all we can say is that we know that we are not wiser and better people. That's why won't let each other create thought-crimes for the "common good."
