A couple of Boston Bruins meet 3 year old Quinn Waters, “The Mighty Quinn“, and he’s “so excited”.
Quinn’s father provides some context: “We were probably in his worst chemotherapy during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Quinn was probably at his worst, you know, as far as healthwise,” said Quinn’s father, Jarlath Waters. “We watched every game in the (hospital) room. The Bruins got us through some rough nights, just me and him, so this means a lot.”
Some reasoned speculation on PG&E equipment still causing fires in California despite the power blackouts. I've read elsewhere that the Kincaid fire was likely started by a fault on a high-tension line that supplies power to the Bay Area. It's looking like a truly effective PG&E fire prevention program will involve power cuts and rolling blackouts in San Francisco, Oakland, and Silicon Valley.

From late yesterday's linkies:
IRA: When factoring in the cost of non-pension benefits for state workers, such as health care for retired government employees, the debt facing California taxpayers rises further.
Just wondering: don't retired California government employees have Medicare, like other retired people have to have, and like some people want to have for everybody?
It may shake out that way, and retirees who leave the state for lower cost locations will not have a vote in California, but a) the unions would pitch a fit, b) retirees still in state would vote early and often, and c) Medicare is for the little people.
Then you have people retiring at 50 drawing 6 figure retirements and 15 years of not being eligible for Medicare.

Hockey players are some of the best sportsball people on the planet. Especially when it comes to their fans, and very especially when it comes to children.
If you can't tell this is photoshopped, you should either tear up your voter registration card because you shouldn't vote, or you should have your vision checked.

mpetrie, I don't know why you - or that site - seem to think that women or their doctors don't already have a healthy skepticism of particular contraceptive methods (namely, hormonal or chemical) that already have decades-long records that anyone can read.
If FABMs (fertility awareness-based methods) are so great, why doesn't that site (or you) focus more on the positives of FABMs instead?
I did a search and that site NEVER talks about the diaphragm. (Clearly, not a method that poses risks to a woman's health, aside from STDs.) I then did a search on condoms and the main article that popped up was "When condoms actually increase the likelihood of pregnancy."
That is, it claims that since the real-life effectiveness rate of condoms is 82%, that supposedly means that using them when the woman is fertile is less effective than using an FABM when the woman is not fertile. Last I heard, the real-life effectiveness rate of using the latter is...75%. So that would be a lie.
(Not that that statistic can't be improved by using withdrawal as well, but I doubt that site - or religious types - really encourage that.)

Not to mention there are very few health risks in using foam in ADDITION to condoms. (The real-life effectiveness rate, in that case, is above 90%.) Only lazy couples would use condoms alone.

And you think doctors don't warn patients about the hazards of BC methods that AREN'T "over-the-counter"?
