Campuses Are Getting Uglier And Uglier
No racism is appropriate. None. None.
Yet, Wyatt Eichholz writes at Campus Reform that "a training program offered by UCLA requested that all 'White-Identified' participants have been 'previously educated in or are actively engaging' in work undoing racism."
"White identified"? What a loada.
I'm white, but "identify" as a person who tries to live with character, a person who wears evening gown skirts as daywear, and a person who should have a servant follow her around with a shovel vastly before I think of my skin color.
What you do, not what your skin color is, matters. And it's insulting to act in ways that suggest (converse to the notion that being white means having "privilege") that being black means being downtrodden and underprivileged.
I grew up in suburbia with two black twins from a wealthy family -- a wealthy intact family. Perhaps I'm remembering wrong but I think they both went to Harvard. Because they were tops in just about everything, from band to AP whatever.
From the CR piece:
A University of California-Los Angeles "Training in Mindfulness Facilitation" program originally had a requirement specifically for "white-identified" participants, requiring them to take special "Racial Awareness Training." After Campus Reform contacted the university, however, the original phrasing was scrubbed from the page and replaced.Hosted by UCLA Health's Mindful Awareness Research Center, the program "provides training, support, and supervision to those wishing to incorporate mindfulness into their occupation or to share mindfulness with individuals, groups, communities, or institutions."
That sounds benign. What they're all doing now, or at least so many of these higher "learning" institutions is indoctrinating students in being racist. It's just a new group to hate these days, which makes it no less ugly.
Look at this -- "original sin"-seeking document sneakily damning students (between the lines) for what they have no control over: the skin color they are born with:
The online application asked applications to select from the following list of statements:I identify as BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color)
I identify as white and have previously participated or currently engaged in white awareness training or undoing racism work in the past
I identify as white and have not previously participated in white awareness training or undoing racism work in the past. I agree to attend such a training before April 29, 2021
I identify as neither BIPoC nor white
I am unsure how to answer this question and would like support to learn more
More:
In a document, titled "Racial Awareness Training Requirement," the program directors elaborated further on this requirement saying, "We are requesting that all white-identified participants have been previously educated in or are actively engaging in undoing racism or other structural oppression awareness work.""We also invite people from all backgrounds who have not explored racial awareness to also educate themselves," the document said.
According to the initial wording of the policy, if applicants had not already completed such training, they would have to take such courses on their own dime.
"Upon acceptance, if you need to fulfill this learning requirement, you will be sent a list of possible racial awareness training programs to participate in remotely," the document originally explained. "Please note that an introductory program is fine and we request a minimum of 10 hours. We will include financially accessible options."
The organizers justified this requirement by saying, "We do this in the service of building safety within our TMF community and making our program welcoming and accessible to people from all racial backgrounds."
Um, except the white ones. And let's be honest: That seems to be the point.
So wait, if I respond with "I identify as neither BIPoC nor white," that means I'm off the hook? What if I claim to be a Koreaboo?

I identify as invisible. If you claim to see me, you are invalidating my lived experience, you hateful, micro-aggressing visualist!

It is not just campuses - this garbage is invading the corporate world as well.
Few, if any, dare to speak out because your job, that is the way you earn a living, is on the line.
And in this pandemic shutdown how does one find another job?

What is this crap about a campus being "welcoming"? And "feeling safe"? When I was in college I neither met nor expected to meet any member of the administration, just profs and maybe the dept secretary. It was obvious to me that the college did not give a shit about my being there or whether I was happy or safe. That is the real world. A college is not a person and you cannot have a "relationship" with it. It cannot be "welcoming". Who is giving the impression that students will be loved and embraced by their school? Oh, yeah, the ads they send out.

The university administration should be purged of all white people immediately.
It's the only way to be sure.

They might send the white ones over to the phrenology department for examination. And check their pockets for phlogiston. One of these damn fool crackers is likely to self-combust and injure a human.
