The World Of Sniveling Human Wet Diapers
So much snivel...
I don't see the problem here - but I don't deny sex difs. (Men have more muscle mass than women, on average: 26 lbs. more & are stronger.) He wanted to be clear there's hard physical labor & probably lifting of very heavy trees & things. He didn't say he wouldn't hire women. https://t.co/PBkLiMVdPe

As I later tweeted:
This is why, when those who "identify" as women but went through male puberty compete in women's sports, the biological women are all left in their dust. For ex, 203rd-ranked German male tennis player Karsten Braasch beat top-ranked women Serena Williams and Venus Williams.
And another one of my tweets:
I can only lift the flat of waterbottles now because I've started lifting weights. And PS I lift girly amounts: 35-lb barbells and a 50-lb water cooler jug filled with sand (home-made budget weight). Any male over the age of 8 can kick my ass.
And Maggie is right:
You're right. Pissy bitch syndrome in replying to a very reasonable point.

It's condescending, she is a person with lots of landscaping experience which presumably would be on her resume. If she was a newb it'd be another matter. But she IS in fact a bodybuilder.

Gah I meant landscaper.
NicoleK at July 31, 2021 3:30 AM
No NicoleK Mark wasn't condescending. For a job like that around here you don't submit a resume. You fill out a job application. Even with a resume it may not be clear if she was doing the physical work or not. Which Mark made clear this job requires.
From her response it is clear they shouldn't be in the US (40 degree F would be quite cold). So I can't say exactly how things are done wherever they are. Still I'd say Mark successfully avoided a dangerous situation.

Resume - a way of writing 'flipped burgers at golden arches' to make it sound like you were doing brain surgery.
Was it condescending? In my opinion, no, I'd actually call it encouraging.
Was it illegal? Unfortunately in current climate, maybe.

The landscaper does not want to waste time hiring someone who then quits. I see hundreds of tradespeople around here every year (painting, roofing, siding, lawncare, plumbing)--no women. None. This is not job discrimination because most of these tradespeople are independent. Women could start a painting company in an afternoon. My friend and I did this back in college. Women do not want to be up on a ladder in the hot sun. No problem, don't do it.
I saw a graph of grip strength vs age for men and women. The two sets of data points did not overlap at all. The weakest men at any age had more grip strength than the strongest woman at that age. A man in his 60s still has more grip strength than any woman of any age. I have seen videos of very average guys (not competing) lifting more weight than the women's world records. Why does this offend anyone? It is what it is. On the other hand trained female runners can outrun the average guy.

Anyone remember that story of the Obama White House intruder who readily overpowered the female Secret Service agent who was working the hallway?

"He didn't say he wouldn't hire women."
He warned her it was hard work, then invited her to try.

Or worse has to fire, in a political climate of sue sue sue.

He still offered the job and she kept on bitching.
He really dodged a bullet with that one.
If anything she seems to be a textbook example on how to make oneself unhirable.
Sixclaws at July 31, 2021 11:14 AM
I did some landscape work in the summer when I was in college.I only remember two women. One did in fact look like a bodybuilder. The other got tasks like water after a tree was put in or spreading the beauty bark.
The Former Banker at July 31, 2021 11:19 AM
I'll tell you what else is condescending, the fact that twitter hid the tweet saying it contained potentially sensitive content and I had to click "view" to see it.
Da fuck?

"From her response it is clear they shouldn't be in the US (40 degree F would be quite cold). "
Nit: that's 40°C in AUS, it would be 104°F.
Radwaste at August 2, 2021 4:58 AM
That was the point Rad.

People will observe and act accordingly going forward. There is often zero benefit to giving someone a chance.
