At the sentencing, his victims are saying things like 'he had no tools but his own wretched dishonesty'.
I don't think that's true: These people were eager to become his clients. They wanted to think that unusually high returns could be had on this planet just by know the right people.
They wanted the world to be just corrupt enough that their own needs would be met without working hard or dealing with other tough guys in the marketplace.
I want Bernie imprisoned forever —and maybe the missus, too— but never let it be said that he did this all on his own.

Seems the supreme court ruled in favor of the New Haven fire fighters. Now that case has been decided do you think those racist test question will be unsealed?

You're right, Crid -- they wanted to believe. And "just corrupt enough" is a great way to describe it.
And luj, if you see a link to the "racist" test questions, do send.
BTW – People from distant lands will think that the sky in that photograph is unremarkable. But here's a dirty little secret about southern California: Our sky is usually not very interesting.
It's almost always clear: 350 cloudless days a year...
And sometimes it's smoggy. In May and June in particular, it's known for being overcast in the morning and misty at night...
And the highest short-term rainfail totals ever recorded in the continental United States were recorded in our San Gabrail Mountain range. Our weather tends to be biblical...
And of course, when the sun sets gracefully into the Pacific ocean, it'll break your heart...
But day in and day out, our sky is kinda boring. There's a reason that Amy likes that photo: Out here we don't see dusk sneaking in through the clouds like that very often.

Crid - I totally agree with that!!! Nailed it.
I love the sunsets in the Southwest. The clouds in the four corners area around this time are really spectacular. I was in the Four Corner's area this time last year vacationing. Stunning.
Southern Utah is probably one of my favorites (Zion National Park), but Arizona is gorgeous in its own right.
Listen, not since Detroit died have we seen such shameless pleading. Yeah, but what if your Toyota wasn't a good car!?!?!?!

Amy, did you take that photo? The train station is right across from the Hotel Congress, which has scrumptious breakfasts and lunches. i've not been to dinner, but I'm sure it's just as good. Tomorrow they're celebrating the opening of "Public Enemies", which is the story of John Dillinger. He was captured in the Hotel Congress in 1934.
I live down in Bisbee, which is about 100 miles southeast of Tucson, but I visit Tucson frequently. It has the closest Trader Joe's to me, actually four of them.

I did take the photo. Unfortunately, I'm back in Lost Angeles now, but if I'm there again, I'll check it out. (I think Gregg has been there for research on Dillinger -- probably for The Hot Kid.

Thanks - would love that!
PS There's a hilarious radio host who is in Bisbee or talks about it. Gregg and I listen to him on car trips. The guy pranks people, but not in a sophomoric way. Know who I mean?
No, I don't know who you mean. It's probably not someone broadcasting from here, since I can't even get the local station where I live, two miles out from where they broadcast, unless I get in my car and drive toward town. LOL. I doubt if you'd get the station out on any highway. Probably someone from Tucson. We get gazoodles of people down from Tucson on weekends. Actually we get people from all over down on weekends. It's a cool little town, with quite a history.I've lived here for eight years.
Pretty pic!

If you ever get over this way again, send me an email, and I'll drive up from Bisbee and treat you to lunch or whatever at the Hotel Congress.
