Excerpt From Nomad, Intro, Page xvii
In her new book, Nomad: From Islam to America: A Personal Journey Through the Clash of Civilizations, Ayaan Hirsi Ali gets into the obstacles of integrating Mulims into Western society and turning them into citizens:
All Muslims are reared to believe that the Qur'an, as "revealed" to Muhammad, is infallible and must be obeyed without question. This makes Muslims vulnerable to indoctrination in a way that followers of other faiths are not. Moreover, the violence that is endemic in so many Muslim societies, from domestic violence to the incessant celebration of holy war, adds to the difficulty of turning people from that world into western citizens. I can sum up the three obstacles to the integration of people like my own family in three words: sex, money and violence.
This is an amazing book -- a great read. She's wise, insightful, humble, and courageous.

I'm going to have to get that book. As for Koran infallibility, I'm amazed that so many people who (rightly) criticize Biblical literalism don't get this about Islam. Imagine what Christianity would be like if it consisted entirely of primitive-Baptist fundamentalism, and you sort of get the idea.

As much as I like people like Ayaan Hirsi Ali, if they are still muslims, I don't want them here. This is nothing personal, as I want general muslim immigration into the U.S. stopped. Until that religion reforms and stops taking the Verses of the Sword so literally, I don't want any more of them here, I'm sorry to say.
As far as primitive-Baptist fundamentalism, I would imagine the country to be much like Iran, except instead of injustices committed in the name of Allah and his vicious, pedophile prophet, they would be committed in the name of God and the most peaceable man/being to ever inhabit this earth. So in a way, it might be even worse.
