Islam Means Killing Apostates
Among other equally barbaric things. From MinivanNews, from the Maldives:
The Islamic Foundation has called for self-declared apostate Mohamed Nazim to be stripped of his citizenship and sentenced to death if he does not repent and return to Islam.Nazim claimed he was "Maldivian and not a Muslim" during a public question-and-answer session with Islamic speaker Dr Zakir Naik, the first time a Maldivian has publicly announced he is not a Muslim.
According to the Maldivian constitution all citizens are required to be Muslim, and the country is always described as a "100 percent" Muslim country....
Today the Islamic Foundation of the Maldives issued a press statement calling on judges to give Nazim the opportunity to repent "and if he does not, then sentence him to death as Islamic law and Maldivian law agree."
"The Islamic Foundation believes that the person who announces apostasy should be punished according to Islamic laws," the NGO said, warning that Nazim represented "a disturbance to the religious views and the religious bonds that exist with Maldivians."
"Hereby if this man does not do his penance and come back to the Islamic religion, the Islamic Foundation of the Maldives calls to take the citizenship away from this man as mentioned in the Maldivian constitution."
More here on Nazim. In other charming news, a woman in the U.A.E. reported being raped. Naturally, she was accused of consensual sex and is facing lashes and a possible life sentence to prison.
Sorry, but how do the multi-culti types manage to get beyond this stuff to defend Islam?
A guy at a party called me a "xenophobe" for my view that Islam is a great danger to western freedoms and society and our very lives, and he ranted about the Nazis killing millions of people. I noted that the Nazis are not murdering people at the moment -- I'm concerned with those who are: Muslims, as commanded by their religion.
I've become pretty informed about Islam, I told him, and can quote from passages in the Quran and Hadiths (I mentioned the convert or kill the infidel stuff from the Quran, along with the charming Hadith about the trees and rocks pointing out the Jews for Muslims to murder).
Yet, here's a guy -- a lefty playwright -- who clearly knew little about Islam but told me I'm "evil" for my views on it. Oh yeah...he knows Muslims, he said, and they're good people (i.e., not the types to do the stuff I was talking about). Well, then they're not good Muslims, I told him; they're more like Christmas Christians. If he's right, like many Muslims (a great many of whom out of the USA are illiterate), they haven't read the Quran, which is to be taken literally, and don't know that Mohammed's actions are to be emulated (Mohammed, the greedy mass murderer who sent his men off to kill when he wanted the wealth or women of other tribes...Mohammed, the pedophile, who married Aisha at 6 and had sex with her at 9).
I get it...and it scares me -- Americans want to believe that everybody can believe whatever they want, and it's okay. But, it's not okay. Go to church, and you'll likely hear messages about turning the other cheek. Maybe some or many mosques are very Americanized and focus on nice verses from Islam. The truth is, Surah 9:5, the Verse of the Sword, abrogates those that come before it:
"Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."
Yeah, live and let live...as long as you can, missing your head. In the words of Robert Spencer on FrontPage:
But most government and media analysts dare not even question the assumption that the Koran is peaceful, for they believe that any insinuation to the contrary is racist, bigoted, and effectively brands all Muslims as terrorists. In other words, they think the implications of the possibility that the Koran teaches warfare against unbelievers are too terrible to even contemplate. Thus, many policymakers simply assume the Koran teaches peace without bothering to study the text. They do this to their own peril - and ours.FP: What, in your view, is the Koran?
Spencer: It is the primary religious text of one of the world's most prominent and influential religions. For more than a billion Muslims, the Koran is the unadulterated, pure word of Allah, eternal and perfect, delivered though the angel Gabriel to the prophet Muhammad. For Infidels, it is a threat, a call for their destruction or subjugation. Consequently, every Infidel needs to know what is in it, and plan accordingly to defend himself.
I think people need to inform themselves about Islam as the first line of defense. An excellent source is Robert Spencer's JihadWatch. Here's a link to his book, The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion. And here's a link to Ayaan Hirsi Ali's new book, Nomad: From Islam to America: A Personal Journey Through the Clash of Civilizations
, which I have, and I'm about to start reading.
P.S. She, herself, was a victim of the barbaric practice of female genital mutilation at age 5, and speaks about it here.
Unlike people who criticize Judaism and Christianity, she has to have bodyguards round the clock. As Tunku Varadarajan writes about her at the Daily Beast, "She would be dead if she did not."

"...and he ranted about the Nazis killing millions of people."
Did this idiot not notice that as a response, we reduced Germany to rubble?
Radwaste at June 1, 2010 2:27 AM
Yes, the Nazi's killed thousand of people 60 years ago. As you can notice the Nazi party has not been a real party since then. Uhmmm the Muslims are a problem NOW. Yea okay lets just worry about past threats. Those damn Aztecs they keep chopping out hearts I hear.
John Paulson at June 1, 2010 5:04 AM
The news a day or two ago told about several men who used mushrooms, and one of them did chop out another man's heart, but they did not look Aztec to me.
The reason Cortes conquered the Aztecs was because the tribes around them, who had been forced to 'donate' people to sacrifice used the opportunity to destroy them.
Not sure if it's relevant, but my wife has Aztec ancestry, as do most of my neighbors.
Evil always loses in the end, even if it takes a while.

Don't be so sure, first of all, and second, I'm sure that will be very comforting to Daniel Pearl's daddyless child. (Do you think that thought will come clap and cheer for him at his soccer games, and throw a ball around with him in the backyard, and offer him fatherly wisdom?)

The irony is, people like him were defending the fascists in the late 30s and saying how great they were getting things done, helping their poor and their economies, and punishing the selfish rich (i.e. jews) and anything about actually killing jews were lies from backwards bumpkins who were unenlightened.
Many, like H.G. Wells, even said we need facism here to get things done. Kind of like what Woody Allen and a few other noted people have been saying we need an "enlightend dictator" the past few weeks.

Japan, too. In any case, had the idiot been around then, he might have protested about our failure to use precision guided weapons in a war where, when collateral damage was considered, it was often regarded as a feature rather than a bug.

Reading about FMG made my clitoris shrivel up and hide inside my vagina. I just cannot imagine the pain involved in that. It's horrible. To think that these women have been tortured in such a way, and then they turn brave enough to talk about it, I am awed by their strength.
I don't understand the need for genital mutilation on men or women, and I don't get why circumcision is so common here in the states. Doctors expect you will have your son circumcised. Maybe speaking up about FMG will help bring all mutilation to a halt in the USA.

[2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB]
Every religion advocates the killing of people who don't agree with their religion - including (or, perhaps, "especially") Christianity.
As Richard Dawkins puts it:
The God Delusion, p. 31
I have, since the beginning of my reading of your blog, been completely confused by your singling out of Islam as particularly deserving of disdain.
Can you please explain to me why you feel other religions should be exempt from the treatment you give Islam?
donald at June 1, 2010 12:33 PM
Name at least 5 people from any religion who have killed in the name of converting others to their religion or killed them for refusing to convert.
Once you have a list we'll answer your question if you still need one
lujlp at June 1, 2010 12:47 PM
Oh yeah, or killed them for converting to another religion, or insulting thier religion
lujlp at June 1, 2010 12:49 PM
Yeah, don't recall seeing any Verse of the Sword equivalent in the Gospels.
Oh, while we're at it, Acts 15 has an interesting story about the early Apostles' reasoning on circumcision (they decided it wasn't really necessary for new converts).

Bad news from the Maldives - in the face of endless threats of torture & execution, Mohamed Nazim has "reverted" back to Islam:

Evil has won, on this day at least.
The Maldives are a pretty popular destination for divers & such. It would be nice if they gave some serious thought to what they're supporting with their tourist dollars.

There are no verses offering great rewards to Christians who kill non-Christians, but there are great rewards for Christians who help non-christians (and fellow Christians), and who convert (not harm) unbelievers. The one thing that I can find in the New Testament, is the shunning of Christians (not non-Christians) who turn away from the gospel. Jesus's whole thing was that he wouldn't fight. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for suicide bombing.
Christianity does have punishment for unbelievers, but it is doled out by their god, not them personally (which is what the Corinthian verse is alluding to).

I lost a "friend" because I wrote in a blog that Islam was barbaric. She was a complete and utter moron, and one of those people who used the word "wymyn" instead of women. It started out as a sort of fun debate, because I knew I was right, but WOW do those "accept everyone" types get bent when you tell them how stupid they are for their ideals, haha. She called me a neo-nazi and ignorant. What's hilarious about that is, she's all serious into feminism, but thinks Islam is just super. I'm the ignorant one though, haha.
Angie at June 1, 2010 3:50 PM
Also, it's been a while since I've cracked the Bible, especially the Old Testament, but if I remember correctly, Leviticus was also about punishing believers (and the servants of believers), and the prophet books were all about god asking the Jews to repent, the jews not repenting, and then some big country swooping in and massacring the Jews.
I am very sorry to hear of Nazim's repentance and reindoctrination to Islam, but I am sure he did what he needed to for himself and his family.

Bible laws in the 21st century...from a joke addressed to Dr. Laura:
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them.
1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination?
7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

The Maldivian man "Nazim" has "repented and converted back to Islam after the religious affairs ministry convinced that Islam is the true religion. 3 days back he proclaimed that he is not a muslim, under government pressure that he may lose citizenship and can be hanged if he did not convert....does this man has a choice?
This is another country which took a seat in UN Human Rights council with Libya, Thailand. North Korea and Saudi Arabia deserve a seat too.
Abraham at June 1, 2010 5:37 PM
Anone suppose donald is still trying to compile that list?

donald at June 3, 2010 5:40 AM
I've already let you two cynical messages, but as your busy I'll answer your uestion before you fininsh you assigned home work.
Amy dumps on all religions - but harps on the dangers of Islam specifically because no other religion encorages slaughter in its name.
No other religions members stand by mutely while atrocites are comited in its name. And no other religon clebrates its murderers as heroes
lujlp at June 3, 2010 7:41 AM
Thanks, luj.
To illustrate this, Christians are very offended at a Comedy Central show making fun of Jesus.
Do you think preachers will stand up and call for their flock to assassinate its creators?
People give Islam a pass because they are uninformed about Islam and want to believe that very American multi-culti "all beliefs are to be 'tolerated,' and all beliefs are okay."
All beliefs are not okay; especially not the one that is Islam: that the Quran is the word of God, to be taken literally (including all those orders to convert or slay the infidel...that would be you and me)...and that the mass murdering pedophile Mohammed is to be emulated in all his actions.
Amy Alkon at June 3, 2010 7:54 AM
I know a number of people who basically refuse to deal with the unpleasantness in Islam you've mentioned. Some because "I don't believe they actually believe that", some because "It's only a few who aren't true muslims who do/believe that", and some because- as one flatly put it- "It's just too unpleasant to think about."
Not counting the "You're a nazi!" noise from fools anytime you criticize a protected species, an awful lot of people desperately WANT the "All beliefs are ok" stuff to be real; both because it's 'nicer', and because if they DON'T believe it, the consequences of actually dealing with it are just too nasty for them to stomach.
