Mickey Kaus Has My Vote
(For U.S. Senator, in the race against our currently elected hairdo, Barbara Boxer.) And his commercial's funny, too:
FYI, I don't agree with him on a number of the issues posted on his site, but I heard him talk about many of his plans and beliefs, and I've read him for years, and I find him to be highly intelligent and principled and knowledgeable about what to do to fix the messes the pandering suckups we've elected for so many years have gotten us in.

He has my vote, too. Not that it matters.

"Any ideas on how Mickey can get noticed?"
Spend 52 straight hours partying with Andy Dick and then talk about it on-air with Howard Stern.

He could take an IQ test plus writing sample, under close, independent supervision.
It is a risk, but he could challenge Barbara Boxer to do the same. This would be a remakable event that Boxer couldn't match.
Boxer could claim that "Kaus already knew how to write well", to which he could answer that any Senator should be smart and able to write.

His best bet will probably be to go for national exposure, rather that compete for press in the local markets. Make the story about the fiscal and social dilemmas of California as a metaphor for the nation - canary in the coalmine. This will give him a broader US, and even international, hook.
What's his personality like - is he funny, personable, does he tell stories well?
Could he put together a segment for television?
Also his name lends to a visual mnemonic. Mickey Kaus sounds a bit like Mickey Mouse. And the universal symbol for Mickey Mouse is his ears.
This symbol has an optimistic, retro, American feel that could play well with the tenor of his politics, and the association with children is complimentary to his message.
It's also a very easy symbol to implement - graphically, as campaign schwag, and in public spaces. It's just two solid circles in the proper orientation.
He should get some kids, put them in mouse ears, and have them deliver checks to public officials in CA. Film it. I'd bet that he could get them on air.

If it was between him and Boxer --- she is toast. I'd have to see who will be the Repub or independent in the general.

There with you on this -- going to send to Mickey, in fact.
And sorry...not so much on the mouse ears!

The sad thing is, in the general election he has a much better chance than in the Democrat primary. His ideas are mainstream and he'd pull a lot of Republicans and independents that would think, "Well, this is California, so no Republican could win. Kaus is smart and honest and decent." Boxer, besides being dumber than a box of dumb rocks dipped in dumb sauce, is not witty or charming and Kaus is.

That's really kind of snotty and not very clever. I like it very much.
