This is Sharia. This is a video of woman in Pakistan being stoned to death (an act Mohammed approved!) because she was seen with a man. Horrible. (The link goes to a blog post -- you don't have to watch the video unless you want to.)

It's all sorts of fucked up.
Do you know if any Western countries grant refugee status to women in these situations? If not, we should. Of course, that still leaves the problem of getting there...

Nicole, if they are from areas like Iran or Sudan, I think they can. But Saudi Arabia, probably not, because nobody wants to piss off Saudi Arabia even though this sort of thing goes on there too. I agree it's shameful.

I doubt if it will do much good for western countries to grant refugee status. I doubt that the majority of killings are the result of a trial that was more than a joke or that the barbarians involved give a rats ass what other people think.

No, it wouldn't do MUCH good, but it would do a lot of good for the few women who managed to escape. Like the starfish story.
