My old Daddy said on Facebook, regarding the TSA gropesters: "If it occurred in a certain state (which I shall not name), the traveler and the examiner would have to marry."
I dunno, TSA screener in the bedroom? I guess it would depend on what she was probing and where...
But all of this is making me nervous, since I have to go out west early next year. Do you suppose the TSA screener would get miffed if I called him a junk dealer?

I saw those two examples first thing this morning off Drudge Amy. If ANYONE did to my boy what the TSA was doing to that young boy I think I would truly lose it, on the spot.
I never even thought about what happens to those with a colostomy appliance- my Dad had one before he died.

Flight crews are talking about refusing to undergo screening, which of course will cause flights to be cancelled since the flight crew can't get on board the plane. As a traveller, I hate to see flights cancelled, but I think they should go for it. A lot of cancellations will force the airline execs to get off the sidelines and start pressuring Congress on the issue.
Cousin Dave at November 21, 2010 7:56 AM
NO PARENT should EVER have to explain to their small children why a stranger is going to be touching their genitals and that it's o.k.
EVER.
The TSA and the government entity giving them permission to do this has gone WAY too far.
This is its own form of terrorism. The Al-Qeada assholes have won. Don't think they're not laughing at us, because they ARE.
And isn't that just swell.

I'm going to allow myself to be sexually assaulted, if need be, in order to use the tickets Gregg got to take me to Paris, but if I had kids, I sure couldn't see subjecting them to this, and I bet a lot of parents feel that way.
Okay, all together now, everybody wave bye-bye to the airline industry!

Imagine how terrifying this is to a kid. Just got this tweet:
@nycmom74 @amyalkon Watching TSA on the news this morning, my 7yo asked me if she could duct tape her pants on the next time we fly. No kidding.
I grew up reading novels about Russian thinking that we were so lucky to have the freedoms we do (or rather, did) -- to not have our "papers" demanded without probable cause.
Gregg: "It is incredible to watch this half-thought-out policy being implemented."

It does seem to be Barry's goal, ain't it? It's payback for the election! I thought the Bushmen were incompetent, but this is extreme. Which is worse, the patriot act, where the gov. can track library check outs and random phone calls, or the current situation?
biff at November 21, 2010 9:26 AM
Amy, I'd say that "half thought out" is giving it too much credit.

A mobile populace is a Bad Thing for a Democrat, don'cha see? They can vote with their feet if they don't like your taxes/regulations/spending. They are more informed because they talk to people from different places with information to share. (Used to be, a small village would have little/no contact with the greater world, now you can get Wifi almost anywhere, and hop a plane to go somewhere new from pretty much any place in the world)
Ok, I'm rambling a bit, but you get the point. If they can't control us, how will they *ever* be able to "take care" of us? We are all such ungrateful little peons.....
Kat at November 21, 2010 4:24 PM
I don't understand why kids are having to go through this. The rules are supposed to be only kids 12 and over (or is it over 12?), which is still fairly horrible, but apparently they aren't following them?
Apparently there's a group trying to help Muslim women figure out ways to use the TSA rules to avoid getting groped as much as possible. This seems somehow ummm, ironic. Although, to be fair, Muslim *women* are rarely suicide bombers, right?
I know several Muslims from work, and the people I know are pretty decent people, some religious, but not fanatical about it. The kind of people who celebrate Ramadan (and some of them fast) and who don't mind hearing the rest of us talk about Christmas. To me, that's America, people getting along even though we don't all believe the same thing. And people not trying to kill eah other over religion.

I wish more people were as sensible as Eric is about this.
I'm COUNTING on a few decent Americans to go apeshit this week.
Our President is an asshole. Imagine if his daughters had to have their underpants probed everytime they got on Air Force One...
...And why shouldn't they?

Amy your last comment there has me thinking that this could kill two birds with one stone. If I had to fly basically naked, it would help me cure my own personal obesity epidemic, and catch terrorists!
Oh, well it could kill one bird anyway.
smurfy at November 22, 2010 3:37 PM
Also, how long before somebody revives the chastity belt (though non-metallic) in response?
I would love to tape one of those joke hand buzzers to my upper thigh but I really actually need to make my non-refundable flight.
smurfy at November 22, 2010 3:40 PM
There is no reason it should take nearly 8 minutes to clear security being effectively nude.
But have you heard about radiation shielding underwear?
That is exactly what the panty-bomber used -- so then you have people refusing a pat-down.
It makes no sense. Just f'ing profile and be real.
