Huckabee Is A Braying Ass
Why is it that the crop of candidates running for president in this country always seems like it should be tagged with the words "Biggest Loser(s)"? From a Daily Telegraph story, Mike Huckabee claimed that Barack Obama (who I'm no fan of, by the way) grew up in Kenya:
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee told a New York radio station on Monday that Mr Obama's youth led him to resent the West, which he said explains why Mr Obama's foreign policy differs so greatly from that of his predecessors."One thing that I do know is his having grown up in Kenya, his view of the Brits, for example, (is) very different than the average American," Mr Huckabee said, pointing to Mr Obama's decision in 2009 to return a bust of former Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
He failed to note that the bust was on loan from former Prime Minister Tony Blair, who offered it to President George W. Bush in the days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks as a symbol of trans-Atlantic solidarity. Mr Huckabee also did not mention that Mr Obama replaced the Oval Office fixture with a bust of one of his American heroes, President Abraham Lincoln.
"The bust of Winston Churchill, a great insult to the British," Mr Huckabee said. "But then if you think about it, his perspective as growing up in Kenya with a Kenyan father and grandfather. He probably grew up hearing that the British were a bunch of imperialists who persecuted his grandfather."
Isn't there enough stuff that's legitimate to complain about in regard to the President that we don't need to just make shit up?
From a later bit in the story:
Mr Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961 to a mother from Kansas, and a father from Kenya whom he would barely know. He spent the first five years of his life in Hawaii and then moved with his since-divorced mother and her new husband to Indonesia. At the age of 10, he returned to Hawaii to live with his maternal grandparents on Oahu until he started his undergraduate degree in Los Angeles and completed it in New York City."The first time I came to Kenya was in 1987," Mr Obama said at the University of Nairobi in 2006. "I had just finished three years of work as a community organiser in low-income neighbourhoods of Chicago, and was about to enrol in law school. My sister, Auma, was teaching that year at this university, and so I came to stay with her for a month."

Huckabee's fifteen minutes as a serious Presidential candidate are about up. Unfortunately, I can already see him becoming the 2012 version of Pat Buchannon: he'll go around making unfounded and outrageous accusations, and the mainstream media will point to him as the prototypical conservative.

Somewhere along the line, America's right-wing lost its marbles. Huckabee? Palin? Glenn Beck?
Where is William Buckley, or Everett Dirksen, Eisenhower?
I suspect the 2012 R-Party prez ticket is Palin-Bachman. After they have a nude catfight to raise money and settle who is top dog on the ticket.
Get it? A catfight to settle the top dog? Har-har...funny as the R-Party is today.

"And let's also not forget--let's not forget, Dude--that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city-- that ain't legal either."
My point is that just by saying it, Huckleberry cements another brick into Obama's mythical reputation as a foreign born Muslim. Even when the truth comes out, there will still be that twinge in the back of many minds.

One thing that is unfortunate is that the Republicans do have potential candidates with real experience in cost cutting (Mitch Daniels) and foreign policy (John Huntsman) – but they don't seem to be taken seriously at all.

I hope the Donald (Trump) throws his hat in the ring. I'd vote for him in a New York minute!

"One thing that I do know is his having grown up in Kenya, his view of the Brits, for example, (is) very different than the average American,"
The American colonies fought the British for independence. Huckleberry is a real Benedict Arnold to think an American president should keep a bust of Churchill in the White House which was once burned down by the Brits in 1814.
"The King's Speech" sucked, too. Mate. Sod. Sod-off. Fish and chips.

He may not have been born in Kenya, but Obama does not come across as any kind of typical American, or even as an earthling of any kind.

Huckabee is what I consider a big government Republican. You probably know the type. He's from the government to help you, but he has an "R" in front of his name so that's okay.
I hope his presidential bid goes down early, and he takes Romney with him.
JFP at March 2, 2011 8:28 PM
The problem with Huckabee, Romney, or any of the the candidates that ran last time is they are for a not so much smaller government than the Dems.
They are not for the republic as the founding fathers designed it.

Really Kishke? Because Obama seems very much like a generic American Dad to me. Bland, polite, preppy... I feel like he's someone I could have met at a neighborhood picnic or at a school event or something.
NicoleK at March 2, 2011 11:53 PM
Supposedly, the Huckster meant Indonesia instead of Kenya, which is true.
Sigh, I actually defended Huckabeebee. Must go wash off the stink. Jim, they're "compassionate conservatives" aka they'll take away your liberties and cash with a smile and a free bible! The other guys offer you just a little red book, no smile.
Sio at March 3, 2011 12:01 AM
@ Sio
If he truly meant Indonesia, then where would Obama's father, grandfather and the British colonial power come into it?
Huckabee was trying to pander to that group of people that KNOW Obama was born in Kenya, is a muslim and wants to force everyone to obey sharia law. But now he's been called on his bs, of course it's the media making a big deal out of nothing, right?
WKI at March 3, 2011 3:16 AM
If everyone would just ignore Huckabee, he'd go away. He's a useless douchebag.
And Obama is not "American" in the same way he's not "muslim" or "Christian".
Given the people he's learned from, he does not believe in "America the concept" as put forth in the Constitution and the Federalist. His view of the America he runs (rules?) is false, but he believes it anyway, and believes he was put there to fundamentally change America into what his mentors thought it should be.
So he may be American by birth. But culturally, he's something else.

I'm hoping Newt Gingrich runs.
Cat at March 3, 2011 7:24 AM
Huckabee is no conservative. He's just another big government shill intent on forcing his views on the country.
Compare him to Nixon or Obama, but don't call him conservative. He'd be as free with my money as Mario Cuomo. If we didn't already have a war on drugs, he'd start one for us.
In fact, the only good thing about Huckabee is that he doesn't care for Obama.
MarkD at March 3, 2011 8:10 AM
Nicole: What can I say, he just doesn't seem real to me. There's a disconnect when he speaks: he's mouthing words, but he's really in another galaxy far, far away.
kishke at March 3, 2011 8:12 AM
They broadcast his syndicated morning blather on my radio station. This morning he doubled down, something about how it's all the fault of some left wing Democrat website and everyone would understand he was really talking about Indonesia, if only they had purchased and read his book. And by the way he really wants to help protect your security, so he personally negotiated a special deal with LifeLock identity guard, just for you.
I gotta get satellite radio.
smurfy at March 3, 2011 10:03 AM
Fuck Newt. Once he was seen palling around with Hillary during the healthcare debate, he was dead to me. He reinforced that when he did a pro-AGW ad with Pelosi.
Newt and Huck are the worst kind of politician: DIABLO.
Democrat In All But Label Only.
brian at March 3, 2011 10:56 AM
Huckabee is a big government Republican.
He does well in primaries because he's an evangelical (former Baptist minister) and the religious right adores him. The sane right sees him for what he is.
