Amazon Returns To The Amy
And Amy to linking to Amazon items and getting a small kickback -- 6 or 7% -- which helps me stay afloat and keep writing. Here's the message I got from Amazon:
Amazon Re-opens Associates Program to California Residents California Governor Jerry Brown recently signed legislation repealing the law that had forced us to close the program to California residents. We are pleased to invite all California Associates whose accounts were closed due to the prior legislation to re-enroll in the Program. Associates who re-enroll will retain all prior account settings (login, Associates ID, payment information, etc.). For more details and eligibility information, see our re-enrollment FAQs.
Thank you to all who've supported me and my site by buying through my Amazon links!

Excellent! Very happy for you, that was some nerve-wracking shit to have to deal with. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go see a website about some shoes.

Amy, do you know if there is any way to link to you from a "wish list" or a "gift registry" that I have on Amazon? I have a few large items on a baby registry that may or may not get purchased through Amazon, but if they do, I'd love for you to get the kickback on them. I just don't know if the family members who might purchase from Amazon would understand my instructions to go through your site first!

Okay, I'll save that link, and when it comes time to make purchases, I will be sure to send people through that link!

Good - for now. But it was not an actual repeal or veto - it was an agreement to postpone implementation.
Nor have I yet seen why (other than sheer volume, aka $$$) California wants Internet sellers to do the taxing, but not, say, a furniture outlet in the Carolinas that advertises in the LATimes.

Ah! I was waiting for something like this. I just ordered a monitor via that link, and in a perfect world I will soon be using it to read about a court telling Thedala Magee to suck it.
Well, that's what I'd tell her.

And thank you, all of you, who've ordered through my links, and will order. It's really been helpful to make ends meet, which means I can keep writing my blog and column and book instead of having to take some other job.

Good news, Amy! The guv must have had his mind on something else when he signed that one, but we won't complain.
