The Sign
With this simple hand gesture, tell people in the military that you appreciate their service on behalf of the rest of us:
You are welcome.
And thank You.

I love seeing this. I had the honor of doing this in person, twice on the way home from out of state at a Midwest Airport. "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!"
And - for those service members reading...THANK YOU TO ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVE OUR COUNTRY!

Why not just use the ASL thank you?

Do most of the service(wo)men know about this? Because I am going to feel like a total idiot if I do it and they look at me like I should be in the nuthatch. :D
That said, I have no problem walking up and saying thank you (and, I get to hug a lot of cute servicemen that way...just sayin').

If I see a serviceman in uniform I always offer to buy them a drink of their choice.

Don't laught but this video actually made me a little weepy. It seems like the simplest thing just to say "thank you" to servicemen and women but somehow, that just doesn't happen.
I offer to buy then a drink too if I see them Jim P. Or, if I can't do that for whatever reason, I let them cut me in line. It's the least I can do ya know.
