Is That A Pop Tart In Your Lunch Bag?
Yet another story pointing to how stupid are the people in charge of educating America's children. A Maryland kid chewed his breakfast pastry (probably a Pop-Tart) into the shape of a gun, and got a two-day suspension, reports Katherine Mangu-Ward at reason. Here's the video:

And the sad thing is there is no real way for parents to appeal this stupidity.
I heard a suggestion the other day that the left is trying to program the kids to be afraid of guns and any association with guns. That is to get a generation of kids that will follow the government mandates and such without question.
I'm now thinking he may be right.
The number of suspensions for just a representation of a gun seems to be climbing.

These stories keep coming at us.
1. Is this kind of thing really happening more often than it used to? Yeah?
2. Is it possible that there've always been stooo-pit school boards etc out there, but that reporting these things is much easier than it used to be? I grew up in a town of under a hundred thousand, and I can imagine that the newspaper wouldn't bother with stories like this, since editorial space was always tight.
In other words, this might be an internet thing. Yes, it's good to know that when this happens, but people have always been stupid.
3. How come none of these people ever lose their job? How come the mayor (or district school director) never calls in the offending teacher and says "That's it, Bob, you're done. You've pestered an innocent child and made our city into a laughingstock."
Is it at least possible that we're never hearing the full story with things like this?

The kid is lucky. He would be even luckier if they kicked him out permanently. How can it be a bad thing to get kicked out of a little, fenced-in, highly regimented, authoritarian, idiot-controlled concentration camp?

Thank you for making me shoot coffee out of my nose. I really need to stop reading this site when I'm eating or drinking.
