Coconuts For Your Head -- Inside And Out
Beyond coconut oil's benefit for your body and brain (as a MCT -- Medium Chain Triglyceride, for one), it's good for the other side of your head -- the side with the hair on it.
Here's a blog post about how much coconut oil to use to condition your hair. And here's a paper by Aarti S. Rele and R.B. Mohile that explains why. (They used the hair of women from India in their tests.)

I've used coconut oil on my hair for years. It doesn't completely stop the frizz (it's South Florida, afterall) but it does help keep it in check. But it does stop the split ends and makes my hair feel very healthy. I don't have to use nearly as much conditioner. It works great on skin too. You only need a small amount. And, it's light enough in the scent that you get the pleasantness of it without it being overbearing.
Olive or moraccan oil are good too.

I read the other day that black people tend to have the weakest hair due to the structure/shape.
People love love my hair because it's super duper straight. Can't hold any curl worth a damn. Several stylists have tried.
I use a 99cent shampoo and conditioner. Wash 2 times a week.
Since Coconut oil is good for cooking Imma try it on my hair. I'm a Cheap-o!

BTW all.
I absolutely love curly hair, I've always been attracted to curly haired men. It's my weakness. My kryptonite. Like men love titis I love a man with curly hair.
I especially love 'fros.

We only use coconut oil for pretty much everything! I have long curly hair and I use it as a conditioner, hair mask, and styling agent. I also make our soap and shaving cream out of it! As a benefit in our house it really makes my husband's tattoos look amazing!

Shea Mountain makes a coconut and hibiscus shampoo and conditioner that do a great job of eliminating frizz and defining curls, even on my fine, wavy hair.
Ppen, I don't think it will work curling miracles on poker-straight hair, but the next time you want to run your fingers through someone's curls, this stuff is lovely.
Some of the Shea Mountain products are sold on Amazon.

:-)
If I grow my hair out, it curls. I always thought I was just "wavy" until I let it get really long, then I realized it was seriously curly.
I've gone to a short style, but it saves me money since I just need a thimble or so of shampoo.

My youngest DD has the most fantastic uber-curly corkscrew hair. It's also very fine and thin, but you'd never know it to look at it. It looks super thick. When it's wet and I pull a curl straight, it's at her shoulder blades. When curled up, it's at her ears. I use either coconut oil or pure argan oil in it every day as a leave-in. I should start doing that to mine too.
I have started making our popcorn in our popper with coconut oil. It's great. (yeah, I know, carbs, but I've got kids. Have to have popcorn!)
