RPM, I guess the last one would have been the shutdown of the Civil Aeronautics Board in the late 1970s.

There is a town an hour for me that ran out of water last year. They have to truck it in. Central Texas used to have 3 large lakes on the Colorado we got water from. After years of drought, the lakes are gone. Literally, gone. One more year of drought and Austin would have been out of water for all practical purposes. There really is a thin line between us and countries in Africa, and that line is access to water (even if we have to pipe it a long ways).
Central Texas, of course, with the wisdom of elected beaurocrats everywhere, is rationing water by...asking people to only water the lawn 1 time a week. Unless they use a hose, then they can water all day every day. Literally in danger of running out of water, and people are still watering their grass. People are stupid. I think there's no hope for us.

Annie, I'm trying to think of a regulatory agency that ever tried to decrease its span of control. I can't think of one.
Meanwhile, in a place where there isn't any clean water to drink, civil order is in jeopardy.

I don't consider that a real one because their powers went to the FAA.
