I go to the local Waffle House tonight and as I walk in the door they are telling me there is no cheese for my usual old-fashioned ham, cheese, onion omelet, or my usual alternative of a patty melt.

This is 11P at night. So I did a speakerphone call to Waffle house corp HQ complaining while sitting at the counter. The waitresses and cook actually restrained themselves from cheering. I am now on their +1 list at a minimum.

The odds of getting to that level of polygamy as exists in the Muslim world is fairly remote. And then there is the whole schism of actually working for a living is insulted as well.

Not necessarily.

That solves one need, but leaves the needs for longer-term companionship (beyond a few hours), exclusivity (the illusion that she's all yours), and the eventual desire to meet the future mother of one's children unaddressed.

The Chinese are running into this problem as well. The short-sighted one-child policy and a preference for male heirs to carry on the family name left a population heavily skewed toward men and not enough women in the marriage pool.
