Yeah, I'm sure it was the Holiday Inn Express of the land of beheadings, apostate slaughter, honor killings, & acid on schoolgirls.

Apparently, he's been saying nice things about them, and not so nice things about us.
So, either a case of Stockholm Syndrome, or does anyone want to bet he got religion during his stay? in which case the beheadings, etc, are a feature, not a bug.

Or maybe they threatened to kill him if he didn't say those things, depending on when he said them?

This is always a possibility. I never pay too much attention to what people say under duress.
And just because you don't see it live, you have no idea what kind of pressure someone is being put under,
Like all those smiling photo ops In North Korea. Does anyone actually believe this shit?

I don't care what he said under duress. He gets a free pass.

Not only did he desert; everyone in his unit knows it, and they risked their own lives searching for his traitorous ass.
I've known one of his comrades for years, and there is a lot he's not allowed to tell me, but I don't believe that Bergdahl was ever in danger from the Taliban.

BBC News: The five senior Afghan detainees are thought to be the most senior Afghans held at the US detention facility in Cuba, having been captured during America's military campaign in 2001.
I'm sure they are very grateful for being released and won't harbor any ill will toward the U.S. for keeping them locked up for almost thirteen years.
