Dhimmi And Dhimmier: The Insensitive Mention Of Bacon In A Public Place
First, Wikipedia on "dhimmitude":
The concept of "dhimmitude" was introduced into Western discourse by the writer Bat Ye'or in a French-language article published in the Italian journal La Rassegna mensile di Israel in 1983. In Bat Ye'or's use, "dhimmitude" refers to allegations of non-Muslims appeasing and surrendering to Muslims, and discrimination against non-Muslims in Muslim majority regions.
The latest example of this is the removal of a restaurant's sign merely mentioning the word bacon after a Muslim woman complained. (Video, live at the link, is autoplay, so I only posted a screenshot.)
The fact that you don't participate in some behavior or eating habit by others in a free society do isn't reason to shut down the mere mention of it as a great offense to your religious beliefs.
In fact, the possibility that free speech will offend you is one of the problems of living in a free society.
If this is a problem for you, there are plenty of repressive religious regimes across the globe where you'd surely be more comfortable.
Of course, as long as businesses and others capitulate to ridiculous "controversies" like this one, there will be more and more of them.

remember kids... you get more of what you reward.
and if you don't think they are playing the long game... you dun know how this stuff works.

I find a lot of Asian food (the real stuff) repugnant, but I would not expect to be shielded from it in, say, China.
Americans planning to visit another country are generally advised to learn something of the country's cultural practices, what is considered polite and impolite, etc. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." Are others exempt from this advice when they visit the US?
Regardless, this is the US and I don't think we should apologize to visitors for acting like US citizens.

I'm appalled by vegetarian and vegan diets. I guess I'll complain to every establishment that advertises these options.

A couple came into one of our stores a year or two ago to complain about our patriotic window display and support our troops decorations for Veteran's Day. They said it was a great offense to Islam and we were promoting the slaughter of innocent Muslims in the Middle East and if we didn't take them down immediately we'd incur Allah's wrath and some other nonsense. I thanked them for their opinion and after they left proceeded to make an even larger display in the window. I don't tolerate that crap. Turns out this couple was going around to all the businesses in the strip mall trying to get the displays removed. Sadly, several did take theirs down.

Sneakers Bistro ought to just change their name to "The Cringing Kufir Cafe".

“insensitive to those who do not consume pork.”
You mean like observant Jews? you know, I don't see observant Jews going to burger places to protest cheeseburgers.
Why do I get the feeling that question would make the complaint's head spin around and then explode?

I'm getting awfully tired of people using the Constitution and "freedom of religion" to demand absolute freedom from religion.

No. You see ACLU lawyers sending demand letters and filing suits insisting that public ceremonial be distorted and disfigured to please their straw plaintiffs (generally the village atheist).
Non-observant Jews who take an interest in public affairs are commonly down with this sort of behavior; the ACLU national executive has nine members: two with Jewish names and two with names that are commonly Jewish. I'd wager a similar share of the donation stream comes from people who meet that description.
Nadine Strossen had better manners and picked her targets and tools more shrewdly.

As for these people with the bacon phobia, they've been given positive feedback by this nation's diversicrats to behave badly. The diversicrats have also acted with whatever influence they can bring to bear to remove from ordinary people the discretion to shun the obnoxious and subject everyone's exercise of free association to the second guessing of lawyers (of the sort who rule in favor of the ACLU lawfare sharks).

If by protest you mean going through the drive through and ordering them ostensibly to keep them off the market and then eating them because wasting food is a sin, then yes, I have seen that.

Actually, by me the "observant Jews" who keep the Sabbath throw rocks at us who dare to ride our bicycles on the public street in "their" neighborhood on their Sabbath.
Is it ALL of them? No, of course not. But, it only takes one fucked-up religious asshole to not realize that just because they believe it is a sin to ride a bicycle on the Sabbath on a public street doesn't mean it should be the same for everyone else.
There is also the irony of avoiding work on the Sabbath; but it is okay to use effort to throw rocks at others.
And what cowards they are as they never throw the rocks at your face - nope, it is always at your back. Chicken shit assholes.
Fascists come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and religions.

Just to point out, contrary to what seems to be implied in a post above, the ACLJ is not the ACLU.

That link refers to the American Center for Law and Justice, which is an evangelical outfit. That's about as far as you get from the ACLU among licensed attorneys.

Not seeing the problem... the restaurant used its free speech to mention bacon. The lady used hers to mention not liking bacon being mentioned.

The problem is called 'effrontery'. In discrete doses, it can be dealt with without much fuss (provided the law does not compel you to associate with people you'd rather not).

Oh, Patrick. No ACL is torn as badly without U.
Enough puns. I made a mistake. Happily, the IRS is getting sued, so in the big accounting book of life there's a little balance.

And Hjalmar Schacht during his time as president of the Reichsbank and Minister of Economy during the period running from 1932 to 1937 contrived very effective macroeconomic policies. (When Marge Schott was compelled to turn the management of the Cincinnati Reds over to someone else in 1996, on the bill of particulars was remarking on this).

It's not all bad.
Muslim cab drivers in Minneapolis got hauled up short when they decided they weren't going to carry fares that had a dog, or were carrying alcohol.
And when the Captain tossed some very overtly provocative Muslim clerics off the plane, US Air didn't knuckle under to the consequent lawsuit. (Granted, US Air had no choice.)
Of course, both those were at least 6 years ago, so things may have changed.
