American Suicide Bomber Wasn't Under Surveillance After Trip To Syria
We spent a lot of money having latex-gloved mallworkers in cop costumes feel up some stay-at-home mom's hoohoo at our airports, but at our borders, it's "Y'all come right in" as aspiring terrorists return from war zones.
Floridian Moner Mohammad Abusalha, 22, lived to go back to Syria and blow himself up for Allah while driving a truck packed with explosives toward a restaurant full of Syrian soldiers. Death toll is unknown.

Acknowledging that Moner is a threat is uninteresting to authorities. Feeling up airline passengers runs a tingle down their legs: a passive and nice population group that provides lots of theater; it allows them to be seen as doing important work.

Do we want intrusive surveillance or not?

Our politicians are interested in controlling the American people, not in protecting them. They deploy their administrative minions and provide them with toys accordingly.
As for intrusive surveillance, yes for those like Mr. Abusalha, for whom there is reasonable cause, no for everyone else.

What on Earth makes you think you can specify conditions like that?
I want a new, legally-registered Ferrari, but don't want to pay for it.

Seriousballs: Next time a Snowdon-type exposes a vast network of despicable government misconduct, I'm going to think of you.
And of your fantasy life.

…But it's nothing personal! I mean, it's intensely personal, but there are millions of you out there.
Voters who want perfectly-tailored healthcare provided by government through completely even-Steven policies. Voters who want profitable investments in a free-flowing market economy, except that government must prevent, or cover, any losses. Voters who want the blessings of free and private travel into and out of the United States, until it turns out someone's a bad guy.
And low taxes for all of it. Or, in the delusion of our age, progressive taxes to pay for it.

Crid is absolutely correct. There are literally thousands of these guys out there. All of whom would require their own personal law enforcement team on their tail 24/7 to even have a hope of preventing a suicide bomber.
I don't want to live in that country or pay for that level of law enforcement.

It might be useful to observe one of modern life's most hated truths:
One cannot prevent a first offense.
