[2.] Listen, I understand perfectly that Amy's thoughtful blog readers are experiencing a poignant kind of thankfulness for the principled rhetoric and keen intuition presented in comments here over the last ten years. But frankly, at this point in deep middle age, I just don't have so much enthusiasm for no-strings-attached sexual encounters with people I don't know on a deeply personal level, no matter how graceful or exotic.
If you feel that you just can't get through the rest of the week without some gesture of gratitude, take a moment to write a small check to a local charity... Some enterprise in your own community which you feel truly helps the less fortunate without badgering them too much. Mention it to no one, but be certain that's all the thanks Iany blog commenter could ever need.
No, seriously... You're welcome.

That wasn't a bad piece. It would have been nice the they'd noted that the Chinese can pretty much forestall any effort by the United States to tightly secure Asian seas by, y'know, declining to buy the bonds that would allow us to pay for the effort.
More to the point, Mr BBC commentator, the British Royal Navy is now one quarter the size of the Japanese Maritime Defense force and shrinking. And this year, Britain will likely fail to meet its NATO obligation of a 2% expenditure on national defense.
So, if you Limeys have serious opinions on how world security ought to work, we'll be looking for evidence of them.
Well then!
Let's clear a few things up...
