The Western Hemisphere's committment to freedom of expression? Not so much.

Cousin, Mark Steyn had an interesting take on that the other day, and he really doesn't seem to buy the official apologies. Money quote:

Like most of the European political class, Mr Cameron recognizes he has a problem on his hands - a problem he and the rest of the Euro-elite have created ... With the characteristic arrogance of an insulated ruling class, Cameron thinks the solution to the problem is an enhanced security state mediating relations between his fractious citizenry. And, if that means reigning in English liberties, such as the freedom to read a magazine without being monitored by the state, so be it.

Read the whole thing, of course. Plenty more where that came from.

Meanwhile, in suburban Maryland, something they were talking about on the radio this morning:

A family of five (plus a doggie) move into a very nice Bethesda house. The moving truck is in the driveway, and they're unloading their personal belongings. Then the actual owner of the place drives up.

That was last August. On Thursday, a Montgomery County grand jury sent down indictments "on seven criminal counts, including First-Degree Burglary, Felony Theft and Fraud."

Keep in mind, somebody somehow thought this was a good idea. But I can't really wrap my mind around it.
