Nice When The Crime Report From France Is Just Somebody Stealing A Bunch Of Rocks

Via Jay J. Hector, there was a jewel heist on the highway in France. Doesn't sound like anybody was hurt (the drivers were released unharmed). Angela Charlton reports for the AP:
About 15 armed assailants ambushed two vans carrying millions of euros worth of jewels on a French highway in the middle of the night Wednesday, forcing out their drivers and speeding off into the Burgundy countryside, according to police.
This sort of crime makes me think of Cary Grant instead of guys with guns slaughtering guys with pens for Allah, and I really appreciate that.
Hmmm...something like that happened recently in North Carolina on a lonely stretch of I-95. Ah, here it is: $4.8 million in gold gone missing.

I'm probably missing something. I don't like any of the bastards. If my only choices were to have all my property stolen from me vs being killed for my beliefs, I would choose having all my stuff stolen. We don't live in that world. I can condemn all these actors. Screw all these rotten thugs.
Yes, there are degrees of evil, but in my mind the armed thieves are little better than the terrorists. Would you honestly argue that they wouldn't kill an innocent if that person were between them and their ill gotten gain? But charming Cary Grant! Might as well prop up Dillinger. Swell guy, right?
