TSA Spends Money On New Stupidity: (Since When Does Criminal History Correlate With Wanting To Blow Up Planes?)
Via Freedom to Travel USA, the TSA is piloting a new, real-time criminal history program of aviation workers at a few select airports. A new idiotic one.
Which of these people had a criminal history? Not Timothy McVeigh. Not the crew of 9-11. Not the shoe bomber. Not the underwear bomber.
Maybe Granny got convicted of pot possession back in her days in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan. Yeah, let's give her some extra scrutiny at the airport so we can continue to pretend we have security and not just a giant jobs program for politicians pretending to do something and repurposed mall food court workers.

Not surprised that this administration sees a need to profile Americans but not Muslims from Middle East countries.

Actually, I could see this possibly helping in one respect, that being theft of items from checked baggage. But yeah, security-wise, no help.

You misunderstand CD thye arent checking the criminal histories of the TSA drones, but of the guy working in the Cinnabun and Burger King, as though the companies themselves never thought to do it, or that the airports themseves refuse to do it even though mandated to do so by federal law

Meanwhile, the EEOC is going ahead with imposing standards to prohibit employers from asking job applicants about their criminal records, because that has a disparate impact on certain minorities. I guess this all makes sense since Ms. Harf at Department of State assures us that all the terrorists want to abandon terrorism is a good job. Still, it's interesting that there will be people working on and around commercial aircraft who would not be allowed on as passengers.

Ah, luj, I see that now. My bad. That's what I get for assuming that the TSA might do something right, even accidentally.

It looks like a classic case of misdirection.
Pointing the finger at the burger-flipper with the misdemeanor criminal record keeps the attention off the thieves and gropers within the TSA ranks.
