This is one of those trends I wish would just die already.

Judgmental much?
You are better than such middle school posts, Amy.

Judgmental much?
Oh hell yes! Ask my kids.
Question 7: "What does the man bun really mean?"
It means, "there are trends that must be followed, and I must follow them, all the way into the independent coffee shop."
Question 8: "Should I grow a man bun?"
Just remember, we're not laughing with you...

Meh, people can do what they want with their hair.

Ultimately everything from the 80's comes back... though various tails are older than that.
I've done lots of research
It may be just hype, but the latest findings cause me to tremble

Hairstyles and attitudes -- are they connected?
Are the styles we embrace a matter of taste, or of values rejected?
Hairstyles and attitudes -- how do they relate?
How well do we use our freedom to choose the illusions we create?
Blow dried, bouffant, basic training
Cops in drag dressed up like whores
Cowboys in pony tails, bankers in bangs,
Presidents in pompous pompadours
Mommas in mohawks, daddies in dreadlocks,
Heavy metal goldilocks trying to look tough
The wet look, the dry look, the fbi look
But can you judge a crook by his coverup?

Razor cut, laser cut, chop-in-channel
Curled up, slicked back, hanging in the eyes
Parted left, parted right, straight down the middle
Scientists say your hair never lies

Katrina; yep, folks can do whatever they want with their hair; and others are free to laugh at them.
In my opinion the "man bun" looks stupid, very much so. And I do question the intelligence of anyone stupid enough to fall for such a "fashion statement."
Now, that doesn't mean I will laugh at them to their face. No, I'll try to not snicker when I see them and try my best to be polite. But, take them serious when they apply for a job? Nope, not going to happen.
On the bright side, at least it isn't a nose ring or a stud in their tough.
Again, they can do what they want; but, I also have the right to laugh at their choices.
charles at September 23, 2015 10:06 AM
And, they have every right to laugh at my spelling!
"tough" should have been "tongue."
I'm not quite sure what a "stud in the tough" would be!
charles at September 23, 2015 10:12 AM
I suspect the fashions of the 2010s will be as hooted at (fondly or derisively) as the fashions of the 1980s are today.
As for the "judgmental much?" question — I don't know about Amy, but I hope I am. I'm judgmental enough to know I'd look ridiculous in skinny jeans. I'm judgmental enough to know that when my hair started thinning, keeping it short was the best option. I'm judgmental enough to know that a "man bun" is about the stupidest hair trend I've seen in years.
These are things I have learned from looking at others and forming judgments — not about their character, but about their common sense and aesthetics. Long may it be so.

Reminds me of the dork knot silliness - or as I like to call it, the My Little Ponytail.
Add some clumsy celebrity karate moves and you're on your way to a meme of some sort.
Gog_Magog_Carpet_Reclaimers at September 23, 2015 11:12 AM
At least one of my girlfriends LOVES man buns- preferably on a man with a lumberjack beard. Not me. I wouldn't say it makes you look like an "asshole;" just a misguided hipster. There have been worse hair trends for men in the past... see Vanilla Ice.
Leonardo DiCaprio looks like shit nowadays. Pretty boys never age well; the bum hair doesn't help.

"Judgmental much?

I am so confused this morning, or afternoon. First the poster questions Amy about making a judgment. Then the poster judges Amy ability of posting.
Going to make another pot of coffee, or take a nap.

"Katrina; yep, folks can do whatever they want with their hair; and others are free to laugh at them."
And still others are free to find making snide remarks about hairstyles to be rather shitty.

The Bo Derek but not on Bo.

Yup it looks stupid. But keep your hands off other people. I hope those 2 dudes got sorted out by somebody.
Josephine at September 23, 2015 2:58 PM
I don't get it. The hairstyle may look silly on some people, but why is this a big deal? Why does it deserve the vitriol it's getting?
Also, how dare those men in the video! If they are legitimately running up to strangers and cutting their hair off, that's horrid! You may not like someone else's hairdo, but that doesn't give you the right to cut it without their consent.
AndreaLynnette at September 24, 2015 4:55 AM
I have to agree with Nicole, Josephine, and Andrea. This whole thread is petty and infantile. Amy, you don't like guys who tie their hair back? Don't date one. Problem solved.
And I don't care how offended you are by someone's hairstyle, cutting it off total strangers is battery. In fact, approaching anyone with a pair of scissors is assault with a deadly weapon. That pair of morons needs to be doing hard time.
Patrick at September 25, 2015 6:03 AM
Oh, and Josephine and Andrea, I looked at the video. It was staged. There was an "Apology" video in the description and it pointed out that each "victim" in that video is a friend of theirs.
