Student Rape Victim Argues For Gun Control -- The Kind Of Control You Have If You Have A Gun
Anthony Gockowski writes at Campus Reform of a Florida woman now working to get "campus carry" bills passed in the state:
Shayna Lopez-Rivas, a student at Florida State University, was raped at knifepoint on her campus on November 13, 2014. Her efforts to fend off her attacker with pepper spray proved futile. Later, she was taken to the hospital where she was denied a rape kit by her nurse....Lopez-Rivaz said she believes she could have prevented the rape if she had been carrying a firearm.
"Do you know what it is like to be forced into a secluded area? To be told to not scream? Because I do. I remember the details well enough to know that had I been trained, like I am now, in tactical firearms defense - and had I been carrying - I would not have been raped," she wrote.

I love the sentiment. She's absolutely right.
However - I drive through Ann Arbor on my way to and from work, every day. The thought of some of the bat-sh*t crazy folks I see wandering around in that place carrying would make me take the 10-mile detour via US23 each day. I'm pretty sure that's why 'liberals' and 'progressives' continue to resist all such calls - because they know, deep down, that many on their side don't have the necessary common sense required to carry deadly weapons. If even 1% of the 'social-justice warriors' in AA were carrying, pretty soon, we'd see bricklayers being shot on Liberty for cat-calling, and frat boys getting a Mozambique for asking a girl for a drink.
They know they don't want mentally-unstable and irrational people having guns - but they also know that that includes a sizable proportion of their own supporters.

Remember, when you have a concealed carry permit and are carrying you should also be aware of what the law might do to you should you need to defend yourself.
In llamas' examples, those would still be crimes. Having an CCP isn't a license to shoot anyone you want. Also, how do you know that 1% of the special little snowflakes aren't carrying?
Remember, they're special! and laws are for the little people, not our betters!

*extra credit if you know what a "Mozambique" is.

I had to look up Mozambique, Rad. thanks for the additional context to make the search easier. Tho the special snowflake wymyn might say "two the balls, one to the dick".
I'm more of a "two to the head, one to the chest" kinda guy. Or as the tshirt I'm wearing says:
Maxim 34. If you’re leaving scorch-marks, you need a bigger gun.

Oh, you don't understand. This is Ann Arbor. They do things differently here.
Have you ever seen that scene right at the very end of 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers', where the girl calls out to the person she thinks id 'safe' but he turns out to be a pod person and he does the shrill scream and point? That's how AArborists react to the mere idea of a firearm - any firearm. It's beyond hysteria - their hate and loathing reaches depths beyond the fathomable.
They chased the last FFL dealer out of the city limits more than a decade ago. I'd surprised they still let the campus police carry firearms.
You can do almost-anything in AA - goat sacrifice in the Quad at sunrise, nude unicyling, aggravated mopery, nothing is so outlandish in this city that it won't be tolerated and encouraged as 'progressive' and 'transgressive' and 'working to smash the cisegendered heteronormative patriarchical heuristics of neo-colonialist oppression'. Just don't mention firearms. I think it's a violation of city ordinance to even think about them favourably.
I always get that delicious thrill of the forbidden when I drive through town with a pistol in my pocket. I'm sure that if I were to waltz down Liberty with a pistol on my hip (as is my right under MI law) that about 1 person in 3 that passed me would vapour-lock right there in the sidewalk.

Got a link to that study for us? Thanks.

I'm really disturbed about the nurse denying a rape kit. On what authority?
ZombieApocalypseKitten at December 4, 2015 4:50 PM
The denial of a rape kit sounds like a story unto itself. What?!
Jen at December 4, 2015 9:26 PM
Just a reminder, many cops will tell you:
If someone is truly willing to shoot/stab you to death for running or for sitting down and refusing to budge - or for fighting him when he tries to drag you somewhere - he was going to kill you anyway once you got to a more secluded spot.
So don't go with a kidnapper, hard as that sounds. MAYBE it makes sense not to scream and make him panic - but that depends on just where you are.
Of course, if he's just trying to rape you without kidnapping you, there's no one right answer. But if you choose to yell, yell "fire" not "help!"

Just want to say, as the person who this article is written about. I was not denied a rape kit, I was denied a female to do the rape kit and was reduced to begging for any female to do it. But I wasn't denied the rape kit.
I do have quite the story about Tallahassee Police Department though. When I got into a car accident? They were AMAZING. When I was raped? Not so much.
