Nobody mentions this anymore, but there was a big push in the Arab world for the Arabs to not sell their land to the Jews, but the Jews often gave five times what the owners would otherwise get for the land.
We all, when I was growing up, gave money for this -- into these little blue tin boxes. And we also bought trees in Israel. There are a few for me there somewhere, bought by grandparents, etc.
' "The ulama [scholars] answered that, "There is a difference of opinion on the matter among Islam's different schools of thought." The fatwa read: "For some, a father kissing his daughter with lust or caressing her with desire has no effect on the man's marriage."
The response continued by saying that in one Islamic school of thought, Hanafi, the mother would be "forbidden" to such a man. "Moreover," the fatwa went on, "The girl would be over nine years of age." '

The Usual Suspects attack a couple of trans women. Perhaps now the other Usual Suspects will take notice and call them out? (I'm thinking no, but who can tell?)
Lefties are a minority that relies on punishing speakers to ensure that the majority doesn’t realize just how big a majority it is. That’s why they hate free speech, and especially anonymous free speech. It’s why many campus groups demand that universities block Yik Yak.
Remember: They’re not well-meaning people who are just a bit overzealous. They’re horrible, nasty, awful people who want everyone who disagrees with them to be silenced and afraid. Keep this in mind, and respond with the appropriate level of respect and politesse.

Mike Rowe has some thoughts on background checks, but also may win the intertubes:
2. The White House did not ask for my assistance, because they do not believe I would tweet out someone else’s words and claim them as my own.
...
Regarding #2, The White House is correct again. I would never post someone else’s talking points as if they were my own. My own particular brand of hubris requires me to use my own words, which is probably why everyone in my office has developed a permanent facial tick.
Today, feminists gloss over and even explain away actual violence against women (so long as that violence is committed by men from groups that qualify as oppressed), but they stand ready to point out acts of sexism so subtle that they would otherwise be undetectable.

Doesn't matter. Like the kid who gives away an unwanted toy and sees another kid having a blast with it, they now want their toy back, with a vengeance.
Like a spendthrift lottery winner, the Arabs have spent the money the Jews paid them for the land. Their penury must be the fault of the Jews who are now sitting on "their" land. They were cheated out of it.
What they don't understand is that, like the Mormons in Utah, only the Jews could have turned that desert into a garden. Arab pastoralism would not have done it.
It's not their garden. It's the gardener's.

It is also an issue of sharecropping Conan. Many Palestinians never owned the land. It was mostly owned by Muslims in other nations. Since the absentee owners never visited as long as their rents came in those who lived there developed a sense of ownership. Unlike the Muslims owners the Jews actually wanted to live on their land forcing the local renters off. It is also why the locals never improved the land. You don't make improvements to rented property.
You see the exact same emotions from long time apartment renters. This is 'their home' but not their property. I have the same level of sympathy for both groups once their contract runs out and the owner decides not to renew it. Which is none. If you wan't to own it buy it, don't rent.

You see sob stories like that coming out of San Francisco all the time - older people who have lived in their rented apartment for 10+ years (so are now month-to-month) and now the evil landlord has decided to sell to someone who will be moving in, so they have to leave their "home" - as if they deserve by virtue of longevity or squatter's rights to stay in the place in which they've "always lived" but for which they've borne none of the tax or maintenance responsibilities during those years of residence.

The clarification below evidently has been deleted. Not sure if the deletion was due to poor word usage or the actual answer.
