I was going to post that Commentary article, but Darth beat me to it. It's an interesting read. So blue-city mayors are finding that public sector pensions are eating their lunch, and there is no money to spend on an ever-expanding leftist agenda. What to do? Simple: compel the private sector to do it for them. Hence, for instance, the $15 minimum wage. Of course, there are always unintended consequences, but leftists always figure they can fix that with yet more regulation. The chain doesn't end until the city is empty.
