You Get Free Speech, Not Free Stopping People From Getting Home Or To The Doctor
NBC Bay area reports (with annoying autoplay video) that protesters from an offshoot of Black Lives Matter blocked all westbound lanes of San Francisco's Bay Bridge:
Members of protest groups Black Seed and the Black Queer Liberation Collective took responsibility for the protest in a statement, citing recent police shootings. "We are here to move towards an increase in the health and wellbeing of all Black people in Oakland & San Francisco," the groups wrote in a statement.
They kept thousands of people stuck in traffic. Traffic was initially stopped for about 45 minutes and was backed up for hours afterward.
From the LA Times' Matt Hamilton:
Five cars were chained together across the multi-lane highway, with one sign reading, "Black Health Matters." Another sign stated, "Decriminalize Black." At its peak, about 30 people participated in the demonstration, CHP Officer Marc Johnston said....The demonstration was carried out by Black.Seed, which identifies itself as a "Black, queer liberation collective," according to a statement released by the Anti-Police Terror Project.
The collective "shut down the Bay Bridge as a show of resistance to a system that continues to oppress Black, Queer, Brown, Indigenous and other marginalized people throughout the Bay Area," according to the statement.
Aerial footage of the protest broadcast by the Bay Area station KGO-TV showed law enforcement detaining protesters and clipping the chains holding the cars together.
Dozens also chanted, "I believe that we will win. I believe that we will win." At least one protester held a sign that read, "Black Lives Matter."
25 of these assholes were taken into custody and "booked ... on misdemeanor counts of unlawful assembly, impeding free passage and committing a public nuisance."
Way to get people to care about your cause, assholes.

Oh, just fucking shoot them and throw them off the bridge!

I'm w/Charles. Just ask the drivers stuck in traffic what they want to do w/'em while they pass the time being there.

Here's one way to deal with annoying autoplay videos:

I did see some video from the BLM "event" near the Minneapolis airport last month, and they jumped out of the way of a car that wasn't going to stop for them.
They moved rather quickly, in fact.
Oh, just fucking shoot them and throw them off the bridge!
Nah. That's a waste of ammunition, and doesn't have a long lasting effect. Hang them from the bridge, and leave their corpses up as a reminder to the crowd who thinks blocking traffic is a fantastic idea.
Wut? hello! Sith lord here!
I R A Darth Aggie at January 19, 2016 8:12 AM
Fuck these assholes. The only thing that saved their asses from a beat down is that most of the people stuck in traffic didn't know what was causing the holdup.
Matt at January 19, 2016 8:43 AM
I hope the jury is composed of people stuck in traffic because of them.
If there is a jury. Most likely a judge will oversee any trial and let them off with a slap on the wrist since they were "protesting."
Their organizations should be charged for the lost time, lost business, and any other expenses associated with their stunt.

Maybe if Mia Birdson had a real job, she'd understand her comparison is bogus.
Conan the Grammarian at January 19, 2016 9:52 AM
We need to make sure we start an archive of the names of people who participate in these attention-whore stunts. So when the blue states secede from the U.S. (or get kicked out), we have a list of people to stop at the border and deny entry to.
Cousin Dave at January 19, 2016 12:40 PM
Well, at least they were arrested, as they should have been. Had they not been charged, then I would be pissed.
You do not have the right to stop people going to work, going home, or going to the hospital. There could have been a medical emergency (and there probably was) held up in traffic by these unbelievably selfish, fucked-in-the-head, no-life losers.
Patrick at January 19, 2016 12:48 PM
Where else on Earth would they be less oppressed than the Bay Area? Unless they're talking about the general oppression of busybody government. Then, I kind of understand.

Conan,
They pulled this in Boston a year ago. Lots of self described "anarchists".
Eventually someone is going to just drive over them. If that driver is prosecuted I imagine there will be at least one juror that gives them a pass. I doubt the protesters will approve of that anarchy, but oh well.
JFP at January 19, 2016 2:21 PM
If someone does drive over them, they may not be charged at all. This tactic is arguably kidnapping, and by law, deadly force is justified in such cases.
Patrick at January 19, 2016 3:49 PM
Kidnapping requires forcibly moving the victim from one place to another, which is exactly what wasn't happening here. This was closer to false imprisonment, holding commuters captive on the bridge against their will.
Denever at January 19, 2016 5:08 PM
"Eventually someone is going to just drive over them."
Yep, just do a YouTube search to find plenty of such cases; especially, where the "protesters" start surrounding a car; thereby, making the driver feel threatened.
Even if many folks today weren't alive or were too young to remember back in 1992 - the Rodney King Riots come to mind. If you dared to stop your vehicle in certain areas of LA you were dragged from your car/truck (Google or YouTube search Reginald Denny) and nearly beaten to death.
Denny stopped his truck to avoid running over someone in the street - and the thugs descended on him like a pack of wolves. The guy didn't stand a chance - just Thank God for the four good Samaritans who left the comfort and safety of their homes to go rescue them.
Cries of "No Justice, No Peace" and now "Black Lives Matter" are perceived as threats to me; and I will react to protect my safety.

Denever: Kidnapping requires forcibly moving the victim from one place to another,...
No, it does not require that. I can involve that, but it doesn't have to.

As the biker incident in NYC showed someone in a car is very much at risk from large groups so unfortunately we have to endure this type of behavior (esp. if family is present).
You just can not kill them all.
If your wife/baby dies while stuck you can wait and kill the organizers one at a time, accidentally of course. Soros is too well protected to go after.
Bob in Texas at January 20, 2016 6:49 AM
If your wife/baby dies
You know, if someone killed my wife/kids I wouldnt kill them, I'd kill THEIR wife and kids
lujlp at January 20, 2016 7:07 AM
Bob in Texas; yep, those gangs were, and still can be, quite menacing.
To make it even more scary, one of those bikers who attacked the folks in the SUV was an off-duty, undercover, cop.
How's that behavior for NY's finest?
Quite frankly, when mobs like this take over an area, civilians are on their own.
