Lane Bryant Pretends TV Networks Hate Large Naked Ladies
The New York Post runs with that, with a piece by Timothy Mitchell headlined, "This plus-size model ad was deemed too hot for TV":
A new body-positive Lane Bryant TV commercial is reportedly getting the tsk-tsk treatment from several networks, including NBC and ABC, for being too racy....What are these ladies doing in the tightly edited 30-second clip? Kickboxing, stretching, breast-feeding a cute baby, wearing underwear -- you know, activities that typically warrant the stamp of public indecency.
The actual problem is the governanny standards:
"As part of the normal advertising standards process, we reviewed a rough cut of the ad and asked for minor edits to comply with broadcast indecency guidelines," a representative for NBC told People. "The ad was not rejected and we welcome the updated creative."
What's your body made for, they ask?
My body is made for consuming bacon instead of pancakes so I can stay out of Lane Bryant.

Amy hates fat people.
No... Wait.
She pities them.
Yeah, that's the ticket!

Crid, sometimes you're kind of clever. But checking in just to slam our host is bad form. If you want to tease the girls, try it at a strip club.

Those women are HOT!
Jay at March 12, 2016 1:14 PM
Not.
Of course, that is subjective. But subjectivity matters: if enough women do not aspire to be, or are happy with, plus-sized, then mass media isn't going to cater to that demo.

No wonder the diabetes and pre-diabetes stats are so alarming. Should "fat acceptance" also be "diabetes acceptance"?
Jay R at March 12, 2016 2:38 PM
Assuming you don't have some hormonal or metabolic issue and aren't taking a drug that puts on weight, it is possible to not be fat by eating a diet that is not carb-filled.

I couldn't watch the entire commercial. It was gross. And I say that as somebody who looks gross himself.

What's a guy gotta do to pick a fight nowadays? Are these girlymen that worried over their form? Because that would be kind of like a metaphor.
Besides, while you're right that it's no skin off my nose, Amy always posts these things with a description of her own healthy profile as an expression of good character, rather than good fortune, which strikes me as sorta rude.
I, for example, am stunningly handsome, reassuringly graceful, with a blessed visage to all I encounter. This causes people to count on me for too much. Better men, kinder, more thoughtful ones, get no love because they don't have my charming looks. I ask you, is that fair? Is that righteous? No. No it is not, but that's the way it is.
Go eat something, link from Szabo.

Saw a picture of a 70 year old woman body builder a few days ago. Lots of muscles, rail thin, and wrinkles and saggy skin over the top of all of it.
I can guarantee you that any 25 year old with a reasonably pretty face is miles more sexually attractive even if she is 50 pounds overweight than any 50 year old woman in great shape.
Crid brings up a good point. Thinness as a form of virtue signaling is unattractive and shallow.

To you, sure. For me, it would depend on how pretty the 50 year woman is (how pretty she is to me.) If she also had a "reasonably pretty face", I'd find her much more sexually attractive than a 25 year old who's 50 pounds overweight.
Thinness as a form of virtue signaling is unattractive and shallow.
I agree with you on that. However, the way a person's body looks can reflect the choices they make vis-a-vis diet and exercise. I can guarantee you that if I ate what I really wanted to eat every day, I'd weigh far more than I do, Every day, I make the choice to not eat foods -- particularly sweets -- that I'd love to eat. Is that virtuous? No. But it does require self-discipline, the willpower to not let myself indulge in everything that appeals to be because I know the negative effect it will end up having.

Notice you said, "any"?
Nope!
And, contrary to popular opinion, that isn't an isolated case!

Correct, but polite, and kind people, don't crow about this.
And if there is a smug sense of superiority, regarding their superior will power, or superior genes, they leave it unsaid.
They have compassion for people who have different flaws than they have.
Amy has been pretty uncompromising is her distain for addicts, alcoholics and fat people, all the while gobbling down Adderal and swilling coffee because she really really really *needs* it to stay focused. Apparently in her case, will power just isn't enough,

They are about the same for me Isab. Neither is desirable.

"Crid brings up a good point. Thinness as a form of virtue signaling is unattractive and shallow. "
So is fatness, though. It wasn't that long ago that being pudgy was a mark of the upper classes. That pendulum swings back and forth. I think that any kind of claim of "Because I have this body type, I am inherently superior to you" can be dismissed out of hand.
I dropped 30 pounds last year. I didn't really do it because I cared what anyone else thought. I didn't even really do it for my wife; I think she likes it because she doesn't really say much about it. I did it because I want to be able to look in the mirror with some self-respect. And because heart disease runs in my dad's family, and I'm not anywhere near done living yet, so I need to make sure my body is going to hold up to my expectations. I was sickly for most of my youth, so being in good shape is kind of a treat.
I assume that for Amy it's basically the same idea; she does it so she can look in the mirror and say "There is the person I want to be". Ultimately, everyone has to decide how much health and physical fitness is worth to them. In doing so, you might or might not have to take into account the opinions of people close to you (particularly your spouse, who might find you unattractive if you change drastically), but the opinions of the larger world really don't matter much. Because, as we've seen here, everyone has a different opinion of what a human body should look like, and it isn't possible to be attractive to everyone.

I'm not RW but I'll play. I sure don't find her more attractive. But, while I applaud that 73 year old lady for her effort to be in good shape, I found her look to be ghastly. I'd much rather have a nude romp with the women in the video.
But that's if I had to choose between the video women and that ghastly-looking woman (I think I may have nightmares for the next week...thanks!)
The last woman I had really great sex (actually, probably the best I ever had) with was almost 50 at the time. Her family background is Italian, she had beautiful olive skin and intensely beautiful brown eyes, was in great shape, and I thought she was more attractive and sexy than most women half her age.
