Just kidding. No, you don't have the right to assault someone for their offensive opinion. I'm okay with the 19-year-old high school student being charged with felony assault for it. (Though I'm a little perplexed as to why a 19-year-old is still in high school.

Patrick, I heard about that incident with the gorilla in Cincinnati on Facebook and on the news this morning. What an awful, sad thing.
Apparently, said petition has more than 15 thousand signatures already. Of those 15 thousand signatories, how many have really thought through the implications of what they were signing? Two? Three? Zero?

Old RPM Daddy, not sure I have a problem with holding the parents responsible. Keep an eye on your stupid kid, especially in a public place.
Or perhaps the zoo itself should be held responsible. If a four-year-old child can get in, then why can't a gorilla get out?

Teacher's unions.
The actual education of their charges is like 4th or 5th on their list of priorities.

Which I'm okay with, in most circumstances. But that should happen based on what the law is, not on some squirrel-brained petition. And I think that was the part that bothered me: People signing a petition calling for someone's punishment on a site like Change dot org seems mob-like to me.
Are the people who share sentiments like that looking over their own shoulders, waiting for someone to go after them? Maybe they ought to be.

I'm sad about the gorilla, but human life out ranks it. Crappy situation all around. Stupid petitions aren't going to change that. How many of the asshat mourning that gorilla would have been comfortable standing there watching a 4 year scream as it was ripped apart? What if it was Their kid? (Oh, that would never, I WATCH my kids! Bullshit. Kids can be crazy-quick.) Not to say those are great parents, they're probably not, but shit happens even to good parents.

I'm sorry Gog that article was shit.
Who did the courts even say had standing to sue the catholic church to force them to keep a parish open?
Isnt that like a homeless guy suing the guy who got tired of giving out sandwiches to the homeless in the park and just decided to quit one day?
We can all debate pro vs. con; but, I do wish the MSM would stop saying the kid "fell" into the gorilla enclosure.
No, he didn't "fall" - he circumvented the fence and other stuff meant to keep humans out of the gorilla space. Yes, kids do stupid things; parents cannot always keep on eye on their kids every second.
But, for crying out loud! The kid did NOT fall - he "broke in" would be more accurate.

I'd say shit happened to the gorilla.
And if it was a babysitter who had allowed this to happen due to his/her negligence, I don't think "shit happens" would be the reaction.

The point (for me, anyway) is that religion says it's about the little people but it's about concentrating power and money.
You can bet your ass they wouldn't shut down a tiny parish full of generous billionaires.

One more thing about the gorilla story, which has the distinction of being both hilarious and infuriating at the same time.
It seems that the perpetually-aggrieved Black Lives Matter types have actually cited this as an example of white privilege, including one bright young star who insisted that had it been a black boy that fell into the enclosure, they would have endangered the child further and used a tranquilizer dart instead of killing the gorilla.
(Yes, Charles, he did fall into the enclosure. He circumvented the wall, went past the wires and then fell into the moat.)
You'd think that the BLM crybullies would learn something from this ordeal, like not jumping to conclusions, when they assumed the child who fell into the gorilla enclosure was white and that shooting the gorilla to protect the white child was yet another example of white privilege.
But they will have learned nothing. Tomorrow they'll be saying, "If the kid's parents were white no one would be talking about holding them responsible for the gorilla's death. Waaaah! More white privilege!"

Patrick, I heard about that incident with the gorilla in Cincinnati on Facebook and on the news this morning. What an awful, sad thing.
But it gets worse: Predictably, social media-space is alive with recriminations, including a "petition [that] was posted to Change.org Sunday morning, calling on the Cincinnati police and Cincinnati Zoo to hold the parents accountable for Harembe's death."
Apparently, said petition has more than 15 thousand signatures already. Of those 15 thousand signatories, how many have really thought through the implications of what they were signing? Two? Three? Zero?

The kicker? It turns out that the four-year-old who fell into the enclosure, Isaiah, is black.
