On May 7, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat visited San Francisco State University to give a speech. Instead, anti-Israel disruptors were given free reign to shout down Barkat with obscenity-laden protests, such as “Get the fuck off our campus!” and “If we don’t get no justice, then you don’t no peace!” demonstrating the literacy and intellectual rigeur that one can expect from the students of such a fine institution of higher learning like San Francisco State University.
Barkat was forced to confine his speech to a tight discussion group, engaging students who came to hear him speak against the din of the protesters in the background. Instead of removing the protestors outside, San Francisco State University police simply stood by and allowed the protestors to bark at Barkat and chant inside the room where Barkat was supposed to give his speech.
This all might seem worrisome. Freedom of speech is supposed to mean everyone has a right to speak, not just those who scream the loudest. But we have to remember, this is San Francisco State University, where bullies are glorified.
Remember, this is the University attended by racist bully and cultural appropriation fascist Bonita Tindle, who remains a student, despite having been caught on video assaulting and bullying a slight male Jewish student named Cory Goldstein over his decision to wear dreadlocks. SFSU wisely played the waiting game with the outrage over Tindle’s disgusting conduct. Knowing the protest would eventually die down, Tindle was allowed to continue to attend SFSU without consequences for her actions.
Good job, San Francisco State University! Your antisemitism and love of bullies is showing. Duly noted.

The difference between a republic and a democracy is simple:
In a republic, your rights are not subject to a majority vote. In a democracy, they are.
In a republic, your rights are not subject to a majority vote. In a democracy, they are.
Incorrect. The difference is that a Republic is a subset of a Democracy.
From Oxford English Dictionary: “Democracy: a system of government in which all the people of a state or polity … are involved in making decisions about its affairs, typically by voting to elect representatives to a parliament or similar assembly.” Hmmm…a system of government in which all the people…are involved in making decisions about its affairs, typically by voting to elect representatives to a parliament or similar assembly. Gee, sounds a bit like the United States, doesn’t it?
Democracy doesn't necessarily mean that each individual person votes on every issue. It can also mean that decisions are made by democratically elected representatives.
From Wikipedia, under Constitutional Republic, which redirects you to Federal Republic. “A federal republic is a federation of states with a democratic form of government. Usage of the term republic is inconsistent.[1] At its core, the literal meaning of the word republic when used to reference a form of government means: ‘a state where sovereignty rests with the people or their representatives, rather than with a monarch or emperor; a country with no monarchy.’”

The Pilates Pelvis: Racial Implications of the Immobile Hips
Sarah W. Holmes
Abstract
"... Central to this article is the troubling notion of white racial superiority and, specifically, the colonizing, prejudicial, and denigrating mentality found in the superiority of whiteness and its embodied behaviors.
Using the two Pilates exercises, I illuminate how perceived kinesthetic understandings of race in the body may be normalized and privileged. By examining the intersections between dance and Pilates history, this article reveals the ways embodied discourses in Pilates are “white” in nature, and situates Pilates as a product of historically constructed social behaviors of dominant Anglo-European culture."

Patrick, you're being anal.
Your high school civics class should have pointed out that pure democracy has no limits w/r/t rights.
You know that you have no idea what legislation is on which official's desk right now - and, horrors! - you won't even be asked.
Irony: if we had a pure democracy, in which the mob rules by numbers, you'd be exiled for being gay.
Oddly - the election machine has not presented us with an ideal candidate for President this year. I know I didn't vote for each candidate's selection. How did you select these candidates?
Damning trivia: we do not have the right to a popular vote for President. Source: the Constitution.

No, Radwaste, I'm being accurate. On the contrary, you're just being, "Because I said so."
Democracy is the superset. And Constitutional Republic is a subset of Democracy.
And, unlike you, I've posted actual sources that verify my claims.
You know that you have no idea what legislation is on which official's desk right now - and, horrors! - you won't even be asked.
That's why a democracy, according to my source, includes electing officials to decide on these issues. I don't need to know what piece of legislation is on which official's desk for this to be a democracy.
I have a right to vote for the elected officials I choose in my jurisdiction. That is enough to establish this as a democracy.
Next?
Irony: if we had a pure democracy, in which the mob rules by numbers, you'd be exiled for being gay.
That is, at least, doubtful. The majority of this country actually supports gay marriage, and it is highly unlikely, at any point in my life, that the majority would agree to actually exiling homosexuals.
Save your unverifiable garbage for someone a bit more naive.

Doesn't matter. The OED definition says that we only need to be able to elect representatives. Not necessarily that we need to be able to elect a Head of State.
Democracy: a system of government in which all the people of a state or polity … are involved in making decisions about its affairs, typically by voting to elect representatives to a parliament or similar assembly.
You've said some things. None of which proves anything about anything. And all of it is unsourced, except in the instance you cited the Constitution. And that was completely irrelevant.
So, did you actually feel you have a valid point to make, or are you simply so bothered when I post something that you're compelled to respond, even if what you have to say is wrong?
