Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) celebrates the atrocity yet said that while targeting a gay people is 'the most binding duty and closer to human nature,' it suggests to 'avoid targeting places and crowds where minorities are generally found in America,' to ensure that terror was the focus of any attack.
'This is in order not to deviate the essence of the operation and letting it be termed as a small issue as the American media is trying to portray in the case of Mateen,' the article continues.
The actually existing EU, though, isn’t so brilliant. It includes all the good stuff, yet it’s crushed by a staggering amount of centralized regulatory bureaucracy and a disregard for the wishes of its individual member states. It’s hardly a gulag empire, but it’s autocratic enough that Europe’s democracy deficit has its own Wikipedia page. And its internally borderless nature is bringing more immigrants than can be absorbed all at once without shocks to the system.
And now Germany and France are a prepping a proposal that member states turn over their laws and military to Brussels?

I just gotta say, while of course it's early days and of course it was a close vote and of course it wasn't my country and of course it wasn't even my continent, the blossoming Brexit has given a lot of pleasure over the weekend.

The dying breed of craftsmen behind the tools that make scientific research possible
It’s easy to think about evolution as a linear, progressive drive toward greater and greater complexity, something that started with single-celled amoebas and ended with us. But evolution doesn’t have a destination, and even if it did, humans are certainly not it. In many cases, evolution tends to favor simplicity above all else. That’s why creatures that live in caves lose their eyes, and whales – who are descended from terrestrial mammals – have almost no leg bones. Not even intelligence is sacred: sea urchins, which have no central nervous system, evolved from an ancestor with a brain.

So it's time for me to say something about this debacle. I'm a former Boeing employee and I own stock, and I am disgusted by this. It's bad enough that the company got a sweetheart clause put into that stupid Iran treaty that allows dual-use technologies to be sold to an enemy, but now the news of exactly how that happened is coming out... Mike Sears looks like a choirboy by comparison. Next annual meeting, I'm voting my stock to director candidates who will pledge to dump the management.

One of the things we had to do when I took high school chemistry was learn basic glassworking. We learned to cut and shape glass tube, and blow simple things like accumulators and reservoirs. That said, most of your essential chemistry glasswork is Pyrex and is mass produced.

Good news for the Californicators among us, the light at the end of the tunnel may not be a train at all:
California's high-speed rail project increasingly looks like an expensive social science experiment to test just how long interest groups can keep money flowing to a doomed endeavor before elected officials finally decide to cancel it. What combination of sweet-sounding scenarios, streamlined mockups, ever-changing and mind-numbing technical detail, and audacious spin will keep the dream alive?

I'm just saying, if you *must* be a useless woman swimming in an ocean of unearned public wealth and wasted attention, she does okay at it. It would be better if she and her extended family were summarily terminated and left naked to fend like dogs in the street, but we see that Brits are still learning how that whole "independence" thing works.

What happens when a "woman" is in the White House? They can't figure out what to wear. Bada Boom!
"Spain-based Marines trying to respond to the 2012 attack on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, were delayed for three hours as U.S. government officials debated whether they should wear their uniforms and carry weapons, according to Tuesday's report from the House Benghazi Committee."
