REPORT: ‘If UC Berkeley economists are really opposed to income inequality and are concerned about low-paid workers, they might consider sharing some of their compensation with the teaching assistants, graders, readers and administrative staff at the bottom of Cal’s income distribution’

We're having another centennial this week, as you may know. This one's for the Battle of the Somme, which killed over 300 thousand, including more than 19 thousand British troops on the first day alone. Here's an interesting story about ordinance disposal experts, who are kept constantly busy cleaning up the battlefield, and expect to be at it for another five centuries.

This is akin to the college grad at work being assigned QA duties, where he sits in an air-conditioned office with his degree and tells the tech, who went to the vendor's school on the equipment ten years ago, how to work on a gadget while wearing a respirator in 100-degree heat. The degree doesn't mean you know anything - it just means you're supposed to have the potential.
No measure to make "the rich pay more" has ever made it easier for the poor.

Then they object to the basic operation of the marketplace, period.
