Khomeni Comes Down Hard On Bicycle-Riding Iranian Sluts!
It's fatwah time again!
Khomeni on those two-wheeled skanks corrupting men and society, from September 10:
"Riding bicycle often attracts the attention of men and exposes the society to corruption, and thus contravenes women's chastity, and it must be abandoned."
Almost makes me teary-eyed that I have a flat tire on my bikiepoo.

I'll have to sell my Schwinn stock!

You mean Schwing! stock?

I was expecting some bad jokes here. Keep 'em coming.

You mean Khomeni is afraid that the women aren't going to ride just the bikes? OMG! Say it ain't so.
Lee Ladisky at September 22, 2016 8:26 AM
So, Khamenei doesn't want women to ride bikes. And the Saudis don't want women to drive. No wonder Muslim women have to marry their cousins, they never get to go anywhere.
A small nit to pick: the Supreme Ruler of Iran today is the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He succeeded the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

A woman riding a bicycle "attracts the attention of men", "exposes the society to corruption" and "contravenes women's chastity"?!
There is something seriously wrong with those people. I hope they don't bring it over here.
However, I'd be curious to see a woman in a burka try to ride a bicycle. That would definitely attract the attention of men. Of women and children too.
Are the people all screwed up because their culture is screwed up? Or is the culture screwed up because the people are screwed up?

Hah on the nit. You are right. Someone just pointed this out to me on Twitter.
I've been a little wiped out. Got a two-month extension on my book, plus I have a talk to give, plus my column and my assistant's (wonderful!) book I'm editing in the evenings. I'd keel over right now if it didn't seem like too much work, which it does.
(I'd always hoped to attract the attention of men while riding my bicycle, and just about everywhere else...uh, save for the toilet.)

Guess this is what he was afraid of?

Typical politician - couching the fear of losing power in the language of fighting for morality.

Do they listen to Queen in Iran? Well, at least the Ayatollah has good taste in glam rock.
