Now, ever since I was a little kid I've hated my president, but it wasn't until young adulthood that I recognized (by thoughtful reading of our nation's charter documents, etc.) that this wasn't just a personal grace on my part... Distrusting these figure on a personal level is an important responsibility for each of us as free men and women.
And I especially hate this president... Maybe not more than Nixon at the end, but it's early days.
Yet still.
We're getting a new and repugnant story out of the Trump White House ever nine-to-thirteen hours, and this one may well fall through the cracks such that we never learn the truth... But Trump's almost certainly being a dick to the hired help.
And that's disheartening.
But then I remember how nobody on the Secret Service is actually doing Christian Holy Work... And that when they're not banging Colombian hookers, they're as self-interested as every other overpaid government employees.
So, again... It's early days, the worst is certainly yet to come.
But the broadest view of this Administration calls to mind the ironies of going to war. There are terrible losses and maybe a few battles won, but they'll be mixed with ironic successes and failures having little to do with the big picture.

Also, the Bowling Green Massacre demonstrates conclusively that Lenona was correct about Kel Conway.
Watched a few minutes of the Senate this morning. Those people are easy to hate, too.
Read Neil Gorsuch’s Epic Dissent in a Case Where a 13-Year-Old Was Arrested for Burping in School: Trump's Supreme Court pick isn't a fan of stupid teen arrests.
So, when Trump fired those Secret Service manger types, did he throw stuff at them? Will he encourage the FBI to investigate them for nefarious financial dealings related to their jobs?
I'm pretty sure for a small honorarium, Hillary can give him tips about both subjects, having some hands on experience.

Nice. You may also like Gandhi, the rough-footed sickly guru (with bad-breath) described as a super-calloused fragile mystic plagued by halitosis, to be chuckle-worthy as well.

Of course, it will be interesting to see what she's like IF she learns to stop talking like that...
In the meantime, here's something that makes me glad that even when I DO use mailboxes, I do so only an hour or so before pickup time (otherwise, I just go to the post office - maybe I'll ONLY do that from now on):
Berkeley police officers arrested two men who attacked a student on the University of California, Berkeley campus Thursday, one day after a violent riot broke out in opposition to conservative speaker Milo Yiannopoulos. What triggered the attack? The young man was wearing a "Make America Great Again" cap.
This won't end well. Today it's pepperspray, tomorrow it might be a brick.
On Wednesday night, an Afghan-American software engineer and self-described “global geek girl” videotaped her friend Kiara Robles as a local TV reporter interviewed Robles about the raucous protests at University of California Berkeley that canceled a speech by controversial Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos. Robles wore the trademark red hat of the Trump presidential campaign, only with the message, “Make BitCoin Great Again,” her straight, long blond hair sweeping out from under the cap.
Suddenly, a masked attacker in a leather jacket lunged at Robles and doused her face in stinging pepper spray. “My friend was giving an interview when some coward peppersprayed her,” Robles’s friend wrote on Twitter, posting the video. She was maced, too. (She said the attacker was a woman.)
Unfortunately, after reading a short comment at the Washington Post earlier today (to my chagrin, I can't find it right now and I can't remember the article's exact title or author), I suspect Conway knew exactly what she was doing.
I can't believe I didn't think of this on my own, but anyway, the commentator said that Conway was pulling a trick that's been pretty common for years: She was simply counting on Trump's dumbest supporters to take her at her original word and not even bother to find out that the massacre never happened, because they WANT to believe that their opponents - and the American media - are awful enough to cover up massacres.
Even if there aren't THAT many dumb, lazy people, sooner or later they're going to forget that what she said was wrong - and will only remember what they want to remember.

Just got one of those "scam" phone calls where they ask you to answer a question with a "yes" or a "no".
Just hang up. It's a scam to record your answer and use it to say you ordered something.

And what makes her retraction especially suspicious is that originally, she went so far as to claim that the "story" didn't get covered.

"...Ms. Conway did clarify that, yes, she HAD been referring to the case of Mr. Hammadi and Mr. Alwan.
"Yet, by pointing to an ABC News article from November 2013, she undermined her claim that the story 'didn’t get covered.'
"It did."
