Alumni, donors and sports fans vowed to withdraw support, even as the university faced a multi-million dollar budget shortfall. And by May 2016, athletics department donations were down by 72 percent.
As of Fall 2016, freshman enrollment had plummeted by about 25 percent—a drop one Fox Sports writer compared to “Tulane University the year after Hurricane Katrina.”
After Murray’s initial announcement, some suggested the exclusion of beverages with artificial sweeteners would be unfair because affluent white people tend to consume more diet drinks.
"... providing people who receive food assistance with vouchers for fresh fruits and vegetables."
It's never enough. Give money for people to purchase food but since they use it for other things (like sugary drinks) you need to give them money (vouchers) for fruits/vegetables.
Wouldn't it be easier to just do it the Castro way? Give them the food they have to eat for the month. (Except for the "special" ones.)

"accidentally", eh?
The data, made available this week by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, provides the clearest evidence to date of how information accidentally collected by the NSA overseas about Americans was subsequently searched and disseminated after President Obama loosened privacy protections to make such sharing easier in 2011 in the name of national security.

You know that bit about not allowing people to fly about willy-nilly unchecked?
Heh. The stew in charge usually makes an announcement that "this flight is going to $DESTINATION". I'll make allowances for language barries, but "San Francisco" doesn't sound like "Paris Charles DeGaulle".
On the other hand, I was on a flight to Pittsburgh, and some guy was sitting in my seat. So I dutifully pulled out my boarding card, double checked the seat number, and told he was sitting in my seat. He checked his card, and I could see it was the same seat, but the flight that would leave two hours later. That guy: smart.

Here’s a quick note to lawmakers everywhere. Get rid of asset forfeiture and seizure laws. Men’s property isn’t yours. It doesn’t belong to you.
This would take a big bite out of the confusopoly that US medical care is.
All customers must be billed for actual charges at the same price on a direct basis at the time the service or product is rendered to them. This immediately and permanently decouples "insurance" from the provision of care. The current system of an "explanation of benefits" that often features a "negotiated discount" of some 90% is nothing other than an extortion racket and is arguably felonious -- threatening to bankrupt someone if they don't buy your "insurance" through a threat to charge them ten times as much certainly appears to be a criminal enterprise and, given that more than one entity is involved, looks like it meets the definition of Racketeering.
Monday, according to Adam Liptak in the New York Times, Trump will announce 10 more judicial nominees to lower courts. The nominees make up an impressive list of highly respected jurists, attorneys and legal thinkers. Those of us who doubted Trump would take judicial nominations seriously may have some crow to eat. Especially when one looks at the names to be announced for appellate court vacancies, this is as strong a list of nominees as one could hope for.
Can't wait for sites like NuGawker(aka Gizmodo), HuffPo, Alternet, CNN, MSNBC, etc. to dig up all the dirt from these judicial nominees, and also label them all as racists, sexists, and/or race/gender traitors just because they were nominated by Trump.

That's the stat of the day.
I feel no sympathy for the school: If you'd read that woman's resume, you'd wonder how such an illiterate nimbus could be allowed to lecture & test Missouri's tuition-paying young minds anyway.
But the volley of paperwork put online during her crisis highlights the irony: That 25% of enrollment at a presumably-proud institution was lost to an educator making $49,000 per year.
I'd not be surprised to know that there are custodians on the Columbia campus, supervisors perhaps, making more than that; and earning it; and far less enchanted by inclined to lunacies about "muscle" and the media.
