Darth, that's almost criminally wrong. The article refers to emissions during the manufacturing process, not during usage. Everything you do currently has a fossil fuel footprint due to fossil fuel's dominance in the manufacturing industries.
These guys can claim busing workers to the factory as CO2 emissions caused by battery manufacture by the loose criteria implied, not specified, in that article.

I don't have a link to share, but I have something that is both intriguing and somewhat disturbing. A Twitter war I engaged in last night.
Kind of insight as to the thinking that goes into the Antifa mindset.
It started with a Twitter response I had made to someone who expressed her support for a very cowardly 19-year-old lesbian high school student (not sure why she's in high school at 19), who snuck up behind a street preacher who was preaching anti-gay rhetoric, and hit him with a baseball bat.
I'm going to leave the names out of this:
Me: "Just to point something out to you: he was not arrested for his opinion. She was arrested for felony battery and will be doing hard time."
Respondent #1: "yeah that's kind of the whole problem you fucking bootlicker"
Respondent #2: "Authoritarians always fall back on the 'legal = moral' argument. Which is pretty funny given how often they claim to be 'free thinkers'."
Me: "I'll try to explain this using small words. You don't get to hit people for what they think or say. Not hard. Take it very slowly."
Respondent #2: "Cool, I'll just give those nice neo-nazi boys down in Portland a stern talking to, shall I? News flash: fascists only understand force."
Respondent #2: "And if you wanna spray trauma out at school kids, and refuse to leave when asked politely, you deserve a bat to the head."
Respondent #2: "He could have left when it was still polite. Instead he chose to prove that politeness doesn't work sometimes."
Me: "If he was in violation of the law, call the police. If not, walk away. No one's forcing you to listen."
Respondent #1: "listen, what we're mad about here is that the laws on the books are skewed to encouraging fascism and punishing those who would fight it"
Respondent #1: "and the fucking cops are in on it! if you WANT to see a police state and more boots on necks just say so and not whine 'WELL it's ILLEGAL..'"
Respondent #1: "and if you DO feel that way, you need to watch what you say about it in public or one of those baseball bats is going to be aimed at you bud"
Me: "Look, braindead. You counter bad ideas with good ideas, NOT with violence. PERIOD. All that does is convince people you KNOW you're wrong."
Me: "You fight someone else's words with your own words. And if I see someone about to hit someone with a bat, I have the RIGHT to shoot them."
Me: "If you threaten someone with deadly force, someone else has the RIGHT to use deadly force to STOP you. That's the law."
Me: "And if you're threatening to take bats to people for what they SAY, you stupid shit, a boot SHOULD be on your neck!"
Respondent #1: "well i'm glad we've cleared up which side you're on; this convo isn't going to go anywhere new so goodbye and i hope i never see you again"
Me: "Good-bye. I'm sure I'll read about you someday serving a lengthy prison term for attempting to kill someone who disagreed with you, PSYCHO!"

Chances are it doesn't really mean much. Why? Because it seems to me that EVERY young person, in this century, is at least one year older for their grade than they were in the 1970s and 1980s. Maybe it has to do with holding kids back in kindergarten so they'll be better able to handle first grade or something like that - I have no idea.
At any rate, whenever I hear some benign news story involving elementary school kids, they're always older than my former classmates were.
Lenona, Most people I know who held their kids back for kindergarten did it so they would be bigger for sports. Not much difference between 20 and 21 but there is a huge difference between 8 and 9. At least in size, agility, and eye-hand coordination.

Never heard THAT before...
The usual reason, that I always heard, was that while they might be able to read already (and kids really shouldn't be forced to learn how to read before age 6 anyway, as opposed to being willing to sit still and listen to stories), they were not SOCIALLY ready for first grade. Or they weren't ready in either case.

My son is still too young for kindergarten but most of the parents I've spoken to about holding children back at kindergarten had to do more with maturity especially for boys born just before the school cut off. It's not something I'm opposed to for my son but we'll make that decision at the appropriate time.

Virginia gubernatorial primary
"Republican Ed Gillespie narrowly beat back a surprisingly strong challenge from Donald Trump acolyte Corey Stewart for that party’s nomination.. With more than 98 percent of precincts reporting, Gillespie had a razor-thin lead over Stewart, who refused to concede the race."
Love this quote:
"There is one word you will never hear from me, and that's 'unity," Stewart told supporters gathered at a restaurant in Woodbridge. "We've been backing down too long. We've been backing down too long in defense of our culture, and our heritage and our country.""
Wish I'd said that. And at a cocktail party shortly to come, I will.
