Cheap Cool
Last night it was hellishly hot in Venice, so I got up out of bed and got this amazing "cooling towel" Gregg got me. You wet the thing but it doesn't get soppy all over everything. It stays cool for a couple of hours. Gave me relief and sleep.
I realized, however, that what I need is not just a cooling towel but a cooling BLANKET. I found one -- an extra-large cooling towel, 27 x 55, for only $9.04 at Amazon, if you get the boring blue one. The green one is $17. Um, no.
In today's cooling deals -- the Daily Deal at Amazon -- there's a special on patio umbrellas. One is just $39, today only!
There's even one of those four-post canopies for $71 -- today only!
If you want something at Amazon not in this post, check out the handy-dandy search window to your left.

Want to sleep well in a hot climate with no AC?
One of the best ways to do it, is to get a waterbed. Turn the heater completely off in the summer.
The watee never heats up like the air.
We did this in Oklahoma. Worked like a charm.
