Daly Loses Sponsorship Because Of Something His Father Said Over 30 Years Ago
Though I'm an atheist, one of the things I think is good about Judaism is that there's no "original sin." You're to be taken as an individual and judged on what you do or don't do.
This makes moral sense, since we only have control over our own behavior; we cannot change the behavior of others. This is why it's especially absurd to hold a person responsible for behavior of others before they were even born.
Well, taking it up a notch from the excavations of old tweets that have gotten a number of people fired recently, IndyCar driver Conor Daly has lost the sponsorship of Lilly Diabetes. This happened not because of something he said but something his father said...30 years ago!
From the AP, the elder Daly, Derek Daly, speaks:
In a statement, Daly said he admitted to using a racial slur for African-Americans during a radio interview in the early 1980s. Daly, who had just moved to the United States then, said the term had a different meaning and connotation in his native Ireland.Daly said he was "mortified'" when he learned how the term was used in the United States and has never used it since then. Conor Daly, 26, wasn't born when his father made the comment.
"Finally, I want everyone to know I deeply regret and sincerely apologize for what I said more than three decades ago," the elder Daly said in his statement.
Lilly Diabetes is still sponsoring the cars of drivers Ty Majeski and Ryan Reed at Road America.
"We remain committed to our mission of supporting people with diabetes," Lilly said.
Eat low carb and you won't have to buy their damn drugs.
Oh, and I like how Suzanne Lucas put this:

Wasn't born.

I mean you could say we should all boycott Viagra or something. But who cares how these companies spend their marketing money?

For patients with type 1 diabetes, a low carb diet will reduce but not eliminate the need for insulin.

Jen:

Maybe not right away, but I think eventually it would. Low carb in an obese patient wouldn't eliminate the need for insulin right away. There's a small matter of becoming small first.

She is talking about Type I diabetes, not Type 2.
Most type 2 diabetes responds quite well to losing weight, and a low carb diet. Most of us eat way too many carbs and too little fat. Leaves you hungry all the time, and really detroys the ability of your pancreas to regulate your blood sugar.

Daly lost his sponsorship because he's a white male and the SJWs found a pretext for attacking him. That's all.
The logic of whether the loss of his sponsorship is warranted is irrelevant. Lilly Diabetes didn't fire him because of what his father said. They fired him because SJWs threatened to embarrass the company and dox its employees.
People need to wake up to what's happening here and stop the thumb sucking. None of this has anything to do fairness or reason. It's part of a coordinated movement to hurt the 'normies' - because the SJWs really do hate you.

Well, it provides a new response to inexplicable hostility that we encounter sometimes.
"Was it something my great-great-great-great-great grandfather said?"

Its even worse, according to the article the radio interview isnt the source of the supposed racial slur, but an unknown, unverified, unprovable other use

Some inside-racing stuff. Eli Lilly is based in Indianapolis. Some years ago, they did something that got them crosswise with the Hulman-George family that owns Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Since then, Lilly has been rather schizoid about racing sponsorships. This isn't the first time that they have bailed on a sponsorship at the last moment, and a lot of teams are leery of them now. Speculation is that there is some sort of fight for control taking place inside the company. Apparently someone who was opposed to this sponsorship deal was looking for a way to torpedo it, and they found one. There's also some speculation that it's being driven by some sort of personal animosity towards Derek Daly, who is pretty close to several Indycar teams.
And Crid: Damn, I had forgotten that that was Connor. Hadn't seen that clip in a while. I note that wheel flying through the air and bouncing around. Scary stuff. Catch fences can be bad news, as we found out again last weekend.

FYI, my nephew has nephew has type one diabetes. He is 12 and 5’5” and 102 lbs. his sister is 17 has the same. She is about 5’6” and 115 lbs. how small would you like them to get?
Type II diabetes is caused from obesity and a poor diet. The pancreas are overtaxed.
Type I is caused by their autoimmune system destroying the pancreas. When their blood sugar gets high, it melts any fat stores. They have trouble keeping their weight up and haven’t been able to sleep through the night since diagnosis. They have to wake up for more insulin or they just may not wake up.
Perhaps another name for type 1 diabetes is needed. My sister is really tired of people that think type 1 diabetes can be cured through diet.
