The next time Trump posts a mean tweet about the media, maybe it's worth suspending the melodrama and outrage about it, and instead spend a few minutes on why he calculates that turning the media into his prime adversary - running against the media - is an effective strategy?
It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.

The FBI is disputing a claim that an FBI analyst told Congress that the bureau uses information leaked to the press to obtain surveillance warrants against American citizens.

Isn't that pretty much what Harvey Weinstein said?
Wilson’s fifth grade teacher at North East Carolina Preparatory School actually made him write “ma’am” over 100 times spread out over four columns on a piece of notebook paper, after he called her the m-word. Maybe there are some additional piece of news to this story that haven’t come to light, but at least based on initial details, as Rod Dreher writes, “Where on earth was this teacher from? Teaching children to say ‘sir’ and ‘ma’am’ to adults is deeply embedded in Southern culture. It chaps my backside that she humiliated that little boy for being courteous. If she doesn’t want to be called “ma’am,” she should go teach Yankees.”

Even though Tiger Woods made the explicit decision not to get political here — arguing the office of the president deserves respect even if you don’t agree with everything the president does is about as nonpartisan as you can get and Tiger has previously played golf with George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Donald Trump — that wasn’t good enough for ESPN’s Max Kellerman and Stephen A. Smith, who lambasted Tiger on their show, questioning his blackness and his intelligence.
The contributing factors to the brand’s above-average insurance rate are twofold. For whatever reason, Tesla models are subject to an abnormally high number of incidents that result in insurance claims, but they’re also more expensive to fix. “Teslas get into a lot of crashes and are costly to repair afterward,” explained Russ Rader, spokesman for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which operates as the HLDI’s parent organization. “Consumers will pay for that when they go to insure one.”
For the Model 3, the result is tragically high premiums. A recent study conducted by Gabi Personal Insurance Agency Inc. and posted by Automotive News shows the EV’s average insurance cost across 150 ZIP codes is $2,814 per year. That’s $35 less than the cost of insuring a Porsche 911, using the same metrics.
Remind us again how TSA emulates El Al's security apparatus? from the fine article (emphasis mine:):
Playing the role of a solicitous fiancé, Hindawi bought Anne-Marie a new valise. He booked her flight on El Al to meet him in Israel. He asked her to carry a calculator for him. But Hindawi couldn't fly with Anne-Marie. He had to, he explained, take another flight.
So on a busy Passover weekend, Anne-Marie went to Heathrow where her bag cleared the X-ray machine. She was not nervous because she had no idea that she had been set up by Hindawi.
It was only because of El Al's tight procedures and an alert security officer that they dug a little deeper to find the block of Semtex plastic explosives inside the valise and the timer hidden in the calculator planted by Hindawi.
Contrast that with Shoe bomber and Captain Underwear bomber. They didn't find them, and I suspect they would also not find Ms. Murphy.
I'm sure the author of the piece will cheerfully waive his other 4th amendment rights when the constabulary asks to search his home/office/car? I mean, if you don't have anything to hide you have nothing to worry about.

OK, so my question would be, what is the TSA NOT doing that El Al does, and why? Why wasn't the Underwear Bomber caught in advance - and why would El Al necessarily have caught him?
(In the case of Richard Reid, I understand he acted creepy in general, so maybe that should have been enough reason to search him.)
Oh, and Richard Reid left from a Paris airport, not an American one.

"what is the TSA NOT doing that El Al does"
A lot. Far too much to list here.
"and why?"
The Israelis are actually serious about protecting their borders and have suffered far more terrorist attacks than the US. The TSA is mostly a jobs program. Their own internal reports show they usually only catch 5% or less of contraband items when tested. Lujlp was being generous at 15%.
And no, issues like Anne-Marie is not why the TSA harasses elderly women. That is mostly due to US politics. And incompetence. Never can underestimate bureaucratic incompetence.

While I agree with you about the TSO program in general, trying implement Israeli security measures at US airports would cost trillions and delay the average flyer by days, not hours.
All of Israel's airports in total do not handle the traffic in one year that a single busy US airport does. In fact, Israel's busiest airport, Ben Gurion, with 20.8 million passengers in 2017 does not even make the list of the top 50 busiest airports in the world, while 15 US airports are on that list.
Enjoy traveling through Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson, the world's busiest airport, when each of the 104 million travelers going through it are questioned or searched at least three times by airport security.
If you think the TSO is a jobs program now, just wait until it needs to staff up to question or search 750 million passengers in a single year.

Oh, I agree with you Conan. I also don't see those measures as being necessary for the US. The security situation here and in Israel are vastly different. But the question Lenona asked was why they could catch this guy and we can't.
Personally I think we should just scrap the TSA and let the airports and airlines be responsible. The security needs in tubleweed, OK and New York are vastly different. A one size fits all federal bureaucracy doesn't work. And the TSA works worse than most of those.
