Kleenex Joins The Crazy -- Scrapping "Mansize" Tissues
Guess what: Men, across cultures tend to be bigger than women. This is a realistic observation, not some effort to demean women.
However, via the BBC, Kleenex is kowtowing to the whineypants consumers who complained about the name of one of its types of tissues:
Kleenex is scrapping "Mansize" branding from its tissue boxes after 60 years on the shelves as consumers called it out for being sexist. The company said the tissues would now be called "Extra Large."
There's a nifty name that'll leap right off the shelves.
I'd love to see a company stand up to the whiners.
This product -- with its original name -- would have been the perfect candidate for that.
What's your projection on how many of the whiners will start buying those Extra Large tissues?

I think companies over-estimate how visible these hater campaigns are. 95% of people remain completely unaware that some jerks are upset about "mansize" kleenex. Companies really could afford to ignore them.

So, what do we do about Manwich?

The name is somewhat deceptive - I've used those Kleenexes before, and they are nowhere near the size of a man.

Seriously? Men's noses are that much bigger that they need a larger tissue to blow their nose? I am obviously living in the wrong universe.
I'm pretty sure that small, medium, and large as size designations will not prove confusing to most consumers. It will also allow large women and small men to purchase suitable sized tissues without having to transgress arbitrary sex boundaries, if they find regular size to be too large or too small, which I still don't really get.

I assume that not-insecure women with large honkers just bought the "man-size" tissues, anyhow.
Besides, I have never seen that designation on a box of tissues in my life. Maybe Maryland banned them many moons ago.

Next they will be going after "Brawny" paper towels because it implies "whimpy" folks can't use their product.

Not in Texas either Mpetrie98. Pretty sure they aren't banned. I kinda wonder if Kleenex dropped them because they don't sell more than the campaign most of us probably have never heard of.

My wife insists we have a box of tissues in every bathroom, so we've been buying tissues for a while now. And I've never seen "man-sized" Kleenex tissues in California or North Carolina. Star Wars Kleenex, yes. Man-sized Kleenex, no.
