Ironically, a pharmacist at a CVS in Queensbury, NY has a confirmed case of COVID-19. The store was closed today for cleaning and disinfecting, and will reopen Sunday morning.
We finished all our preps early last week. No more leaving the house except for work and back. Anything else can be delivered or done without. When I buy gasoline, I absolutely drench the gas pump with Lysol, wipe my hands down with Lysol wipes immediately thereafter, and give them a vigorous washing at home.
Both my wife and I have laid in a years supply of the prescription meds we take for chronic health issues.
I do think, however, that we're just delaying the inevitable. I suspect we're all going to get this at some point. Most of us will make it through just fine. Many others are going to die, mostly old or chronically ill people. I'm reading some estimates of between 1,000,000 and 3,000,000 deaths in the United States alone. The US will survive it, but what our society will look like on the other side is open to question.
This isn't just the flu.

It has been so politicized it is hard to tell what exactly the situation is.
Husband and I returned from Japan in January. Husband was on a commercial flight with plenty of Chinese nationals. Went to Phoenix in February. First time traveling with husband in the RV in a long while. Husband got sick the day we got back. I, of course, caught it from him 48 hours later. Is it the flu? Is it Corona virus? When was he exposed? Who the heck knows? And why would I sit in an emergency room for several hours spreading it to other people in order to have a tiny chance of finding out?
Two weeks later finally feeling better and the cough has almost gone away, but it was rough.

Isab, feel well.

You've heard of the trend of younger black music listeners thoughtfully reviewing the favorite works of white-culture pop, of boomer rock and roll specifically, in lengthy YouTube videos.
Well, this is not part of that trend: It's better.
Also, these two amuse.

Well, why not start things off with lies when you are trying to peddle news from 2000+ years ago.

From Lenona's link: "masculinity is being redefined by many of today’s most influential men to include traits like compassion, sensitivity, honesty, and empathy."
Hogwash. Masculinity has always included these traits. "Toxic masculinity" is a straw man set up by post-modern feminists.

In every culture?
I certainly don't get that impression from ancient Greek or Roman history. Back then, the idea that women were even human beings was considered somewhat implausible. (Read "The Eumenides," for one - yes, it's a play, but it's not farcical!)
lenona at March 9, 2020 3:43 PM
Oh, yes - and in Texas, just under a century ago, it was "justifiable homicide" for a husband to kill his wife for adultery.
lenona at March 9, 2020 3:51 PM
So Lenona, you jump from "masculinity is being redefined by many of today’s most influential men" clearly talking about US culture to "I certainly don't get that impression from ancient Greek or Roman history."
Quality job lady.

Lenona is quite adept at goal post moving.

Ben, Cousin Dave certainly didn't seem to suggest that HE was only talking about American masculinity.
But just in case he was, that's why I included Texas.
Not to mention that Western culture, in general, is heavily based on Greece and Rome. (That's "heavily," not "completely.")
At any rate, I posted the article because of its conclusions about men's jobs - something I hadn't quite been expecting.
