"Alternative" Discrimination Is Not Justice
Happened to me exactly that way in two corporate jobs. I was also told directly. https://t.co/YRPE1v9dC3

It is cheating the individual to prioritize certain group members by virtue of skin color.
Didn't anyone listen to Martin Luther King?

Didn't anyone listen to Martin Luther King?
Who listens to a man who nails 95 theses to the door of a church? besides, this is about tribalism and getevenism. Also grift. Lots and lots of grift.
Will Black Lives Matter open their books for a forensic audit? to ensure that the tens, hundreds, even thousands of millions of dollars flowing into their coffers are spent in a legitimate fashion?
I suspect not. Once they see how much money they have, they'll be too busy opening bank accounts in the Cayman Islands and engaging in "accounting irregularities" to help people that they say they'll help.

Expect much more of this, in the guise of racial 'equity'. But it will primarily benefit white women. That's the dirty secret of equity initiatives - white women are treated as an 'underrepresented' class and exploit that + their predominance in HR to reap the benefits.
This is what Google and other Bay Area tech firms have realized after launching Equity initiatives about 2 years ago. It's apparently why Google has recently outsourced their Equity management to 3rd parties that won't be as influenced by internal politics. Because their employment and representation of AA and Hispanics didn't improve much, almost all of the gains went to white women. It's also become common knowledge at many firms that hirings and promotions are being held up by political bartering where any male candidate has to be balanced by a female candidate in a comparable role. Which means that HR is circulating private information about candidates to a lobbying network internally.
This is why white women love Intersectionality and Social Justice. They can hide behind racial minorities and appear virtuous while ginning up hatred towards white men and exploiting the outcome.

Not to be overly pedantic, but it was Martin Luther, a German priest, who nailed the 95 theses to the door and kick-started the Protestant Reformation.

Good question.
Of course, they won't submit to any audit. How dare you suggest that they have anything but the purest of motives.

If someone posted sarcasm on *checks notes* a church door, would anyone notice?
Good question.
I am obviously a racist. I denounce myself, and will report to a gulag, err, re-education camp forthwith.
I R A Darth Aggie at June 16, 2020 8:45 AM
norah has an extremely good point. When my local government entities moved to an affirmative action model in terms of doling out contracts, more than a few white business men made their wives CEOs of their companies, transforming them into a woman-owned business and eligible for the set asides.
When you subsidize an activity you'll get more of it. Now it remains to be seen if a white man declares himself to be a transwoman if that will apply. Magic 8 ball sez "yes".

Wish I could say that it only happened twice to me; but, I stopped counting this "reverse discrimination" against me years ago.
What I find especially galling now is when I am passed over in favor of someone less qualified; yet, they expect ME to help pick up the slack the lesser qualified person cannot perform.
charles at June 16, 2020 10:47 AM
This is why I am self-employed. The bastard I work for can cut my pay, but can never fire me!
Too bad for the truly qualified minorities and females that their "successes" will always be doubted.
Jay R at June 16, 2020 10:52 AM
@Charles,
There is a worser fate: Imagine that less qualified person that you are picking up the slack also happens to be the ho the boss is cheating his wife with.
And that kind of "lady" also loves playing with fire because she's cheating your boss with a boss from another department.
And you end up with something like this: The wife doesn't know, your boss doesn't know, the other boss doesn't know either, but she knows that you know everything because work gets you caught in the middle, and she revels on the damage she's doing.

Today I visited the Black Lives Matter website, clicked on 'Donate' - and it took me to the Actblue website.
I mean, damn. Not even pretending any more.

This was the experience I had working at Walmart. As much as you hear that women and minorities have a hard time getting promoted, I found that Walmart was actively working to change that perception. I applied for a position in the cash office. When I interviewed, I was told there was ONLY one position available because someone on the current crew was leaving. I was given the position, but they also promoted another person, a Hispanic woman. But there was only one person in the cash office who left after we were trained. I can only assume that upper management got involved and said that they could not just promote a white male. They would have to promote another employee. That other woman was rather adversarial and got everyone riled up about me. I was removed from the cash office after three months, and it was all because of that woman who wasn't even supposed to be in there in the first place. I'm still furious.

I tried it, it's true.
Seriousballs, though… Were you really going to donate to BLM? No judgy-wudgy, just sincere curiosity. (I'm more about Fisher House, United Way and a favorite soup kitchen, m'self. Yes, I know that UW has problems.)
With about half the (surviving) corporations in America sending checks to these social enterprises as fast as FedEx can deliver them, it will be easy to regard their onrushing price markups as a tax being paid by the rest of us. These enormous companies don't leave rainyday room in the budgets for events like the Floyd riots… And if they had, they were drained by Wuhan anyway.
I share Ira's worry about the uses to which the money will be put.

"No judgy-wudgy, just sincere curiosity."
Nah, I had just read that BLM donations were being ... repurposed is a nice word, I suppose.
The vague language the site uses in describing the final destination of the cash should be a red flag.
Gog_Magog_Carpet_Reclaimers at June 16, 2020 9:05 PM
Haha! I secretly judge you harshly!
SUCKEEEEER....
