• I totally remember the first time my uncle asked me to sign a NDA!
• DiBlasio has an almost superhuman power to disappoint and appall with unmechanized clarity: There have been about a thousand little squibs like this, mistakes plainly apparent to an uninterested reader of new items from a city twenty-four hundred miles away; and for none have I thought 'Golly, there must be some sort of local circumstances, some subterranean Gotham political infrastructure, which could explain why he has to commit this seemingly destructive or small-minded error!'
No. He's just an uncomplicated goofball.

• I bet, on the basis of nuthin' but gut (so to speak), that toilet plume dispersion of Wuhan doesn't pan out as a major hazard in studies to come. (Though it very well might. I've just decided that I'm too old to worry about people going to the bathroom.)
• But research into other vectors is precisely what DiBlasio is trying to cripple in the "like this" link, above.

I'm pretty sure I've seen 30 of these.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/gallery/50-best-movies-youve-never-seen/ss-AAHDxdZ?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=mailsignout#image=1
The ones I haven't are mostly pretty recent or obscure.
Lenona at June 16, 2020 11:08 PM
I've seen about 10. And would add a few to that list.
Conan the Grammarian at June 17, 2020 6:19 AM
Also, MSN.com's frequent use of the slideshow format is annoying. They use it because they can charge ad revenue for each page that way, but readers cannot simply print or scan the list. I usually give up on slideshow articles pretty quickly.

Yeah, I made it through about 12, enough to wonder how much research went into the piece. I'm guessing about 2½ workdays for a single writer, earning him or her $250. The person who acquired and cleared the photos earned three times as much.

Here are a couple of notable ironies.
(Even with the Antebellum thing the other day, the Dixies didn't come to mind. It's great to not care about country music.)

This was more ironic.

Two things happened that were the downfall of flash.
One was that Adobe had zero incentive to actually get their act together and polish the software.
And two was that Steve Jobs bitched that his iPhone squealed like a pig every time he tried to run a flash animation.
Back then people's trust in tech journalism was very high and had no idea that every one of them was fighting for the privilege of sucking Jobs' d*ck, so everyone jumped into the Flash hate mob.
And now we're stuck with JavaScript cancer.
Sixclaws at June 17, 2020 11:39 AM
Will you look at that:
Huh. Be that as it may be, if you chase someone who is retreating, repeatedly try to club that person in the head with a skateboard, and yell that you mean to kill him, you shouldn't be surprised when his mostly peaceful firearm barks at you.

The Jobsian Reality Distortion Field was a real thing. And it was very clear what Stevie wanted: a patented, royalty producing video standard coming out of Apple. By that time - mid 2000s - I'd long since realized that much of tech urinalism was simply regurgitating industry press releases. That Rob Enderle still is able to work in the field is astounding.
I ran Flash on CyanogenMod android in the late 2000s early 2010s and I would have to reflash the image in 2-3 weeks. Once I removed Flash, that stopped. I came to hate Flash with the fury of 1,000 suns.

Unless you bought a flagship, smartphones from that era were awful.
It's right in 2015 where the midrange phones started to not suck, and 2018 is where low-end were useable.
I still hate how people buy $50 smartphones and then expect that the Social Media/Game apps should run silky smooth as if they were running on a $1000 one.

"50 Best Movies You've Never Seen"
A much easier way to read it:
https://www.listchallenges.com/50-best-movies-youve-never-seen-according-to
The posters are displayed on two pages only.
Lenona at June 17, 2020 1:50 PM
And there's a USA Today version as well, with descriptions, but the photos would take quite a while to download.
Turns out I've only seen 29. I can't believe I never saw "Pickup on South Street" or "Night and the City"!
Lenona at June 17, 2020 2:06 PM
I haven't seen one of those films, but have heard of a handful, and have worked in Hollywood for 30 years.

As for the movies, I'm 5 for 50.
Until I went to the NEXT quiz, 250 of Reddit's faves - and I'm 222 for 250.
Not sure what that says about me.

"One was that Adobe had zero incentive to actually get their act together and polish the software."
Umm, how about the exploits Flash was famous for? Nothing like porting somebody into your box anonymously through a media player.
Adobe's Reader and Acrobat remain bloated things which litter one's machine. There are tiny and useful pdf programs, but Adobe doesn't make them.
Radwaste at June 18, 2020 5:36 AM
The only Adobe software I have right now is the Flash plugin for firefox. I'd rather use Chrome for reading PDFs than the actual Adobe Reader which is a bloated mess.
