• I became aware of comedian Gardenswartz through more recent appearances, but this, from few years ago, is notable.
• And this came up on Twitter today via Paul.
She was cute. It's okay to say it now.

And he doesn't?
Loved the part about Slick Rick's investment savvy.
While they weren't insulting or degrading, a white guy couldn't make those jokes today.
Conan the Grammarian at August 24, 2020 4:55 AM
Indeed, and Gardenswartz does not… The more recent versions of his act have left out the best lines from that clip.

• This is an intimidating bit of Covid news but n = 1.
• The difference? Show tunes, obviously.
Crid at August 24, 2020 6:18 AM
Okay, that's wrong. N ≠ 1, but with millions of infected people to consider, a single case doesn't mean it could happen to anyone.

Heeey! Somebody held a desiccated monkey's paw and wished for teenagers to know more about the Holocaust:

Sixclaws at August 24, 2020 6:42 AM
Wait, these are non-Jewish teenagers pretending to be Holocaust victims. Isn't that cultural appropriation?
Conan the Grammarian at August 24, 2020 7:56 AM
Twitter sells you rage.

I'd say both Kims would look quite ordinary IF you didn't know who either of them was.

In the meantime, I mentioned this issue a long time ago - back then, it was about a 2002 Italian court case in which the judge ruled that an educated man in his 30s must be supported by his father until he got a job he enjoyed.
It seems the tide is turning:
https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/18/europe/italy-adult-child-finance-intl-scli/index.html
Last paragraphs:
...There are hundreds of thousands of similar cases, the lawyer said, adding that one of three divorce claims are related to the financial support of the couple's adult children.
The court, Gassani said, "has put some limits to avert the always more endless request of financial support also by children in their forties."
"Italy is not the only country to experience these requests from adult children" Gassani said, quoting similar statistics in southern European countries I such as Spain and France, "but it's definitively the worst."
The phenomenon is so familiar in Italy that former Prime Minister Mario Monti nicknamed it "bamboccioni," meaning "big babies," to identify the generation of young Italians who still live at home in their late thirties.
"Italian young people must be more courageous, must find the will to take risks," Gassani said, adding, "but that's difficult if your mum keeps on bringing you a cup of coffee to bed every morning."

And yes, it's Reddit, but this sounds pretty plausible...unfortunately.
https://www.reddit.com/r/childfree/comments/cjvwb2/my_ex_tried_to_trap_me/
In a nutshell, a man tells how his ex secretly planned for MONTHS to trap him into unwanted fatherhood - and when she miscarried (about five weeks after she told him she was pregnant), his relatives all apparently sympathized with HER - and no one seems to care about his feelings.
There are well over 700 comments - but I can't read them. Very annoying.
Lenona at August 24, 2020 7:32 PM
Why can't you read them? Too annoying?
Crid at August 24, 2020 9:03 PM
No, what I mean is, I can't access them.
Either it's because I'm using an iPad, or else they changed the rules at Reddit and I'd have to register to read the comments. I do not like to register anywhere anymore if I can avoid it.
Lenona at August 24, 2020 10:50 PM
Yes, people tend to sympathize with women who have lost a baby more than people stuck having one they don't want. Death gets more sympathy. It's the way of the world.
That saying that sucks. What a psycho.
NicoleK at August 25, 2020 4:36 AM
Maybe, though I would expect them to be repulsed by ANY psycho like that. (Granted, it didn't actually say they made contact with her.)
It's definitely arrogant for them to be telling HIM what he should be "mourning."
Lenona at August 25, 2020 6:21 AM
@Lenona,
Can you edit the url? I have noticed that replacing the "WWW" with "old" in it makes Reddit a more serviceable experience.
Sixclaws at August 25, 2020 7:04 AM
Wow, thanks, Sixclaws!
I've seen "old Reddit" threads before, but I had assumed that since I googled a phrase from the post and that didn't result in what I was looking for, nothing was going to work. This changes everything.

Kind of feel for Kim Yo Jong. Can’t imagine living my life walking the tightrope she most likely had to, to stay alive in North Korea,
It is a real life version of the Hunger Games.

No.

I like you.
Same here for that one photo service, also that one thing, maybe instagram or whatever.
It's 2020. If you require me to establish an account, to choose a password, and to keep track of them and worry about them, it's just not worth it… You got into the social media business too late to ask that of me.
Also, yes, all my reddit links are "old"-prefixed. Social media isn't getting better with each iteration, it's just getting more intrusive.
