Life Is Officially A Giant Parody
Ashley Carnahan writes at The College Fix:
Boston University faculty members and students recently released a letter that calls on the institution to reconsider its approach to coronavirus.Their letter argued coronavirus is not just a public health issue, it's also part of white supremacy.
In the letter, titled "Back2BU in a Time of COVID: A Call for BU to Dismantle Institutionalized White Supremacy Culture," students and faculty outlined the alleged "white supremacy culture" with several examples and offered a solution to combat it. It has over 50 signers as of Friday.
The signers, mostly faculty, accuse the private university of promoting white supremacy through its approach to the "Back2BU" plans. The campus returned on September 2 and students have an option of utilizing in-person or remote classes.
"We believe BU cannot fulfill its goal of becoming an anti-racist institution while its administration continues to operate from principles rooted in white supremacy culture," the letter stated.
Coronavirus "has a disproportionate impact on Black and Latinx communities" so the return of thousands of students threatens these communities, the letter states.
The signers argue that this represents "institutionalized culture of white supremacy at BU which is designed to perpetuate existing inequality." It comes "from the hierarchical power dynamic between masters and slaves and the legacies of settler colonialism."
Are you all fucking high?
Other alleged examples of the white supremacist culture at Boston University include the school's decision to offer COVID testing only to its students instead of nearby communities and schools...
Um, those paying tuition, because the college does not have a crop of money trees.
I just have to wonder: How much of this generation is made of delusional perpetual children and how likely is it that they will be in positions of power at some point?

Sounds like it’s time to call in Larry the Liquidator (Other People’s Money reference). BU is clearly an obsolete and failing institution since it can’t avoid systemic and institutional racism in one of the most woke places in the world. So, break it up, sell off the assets and shut it down — and wish all the non-STEM faculty Good Luck in a market saturated with Studies Majors looking for a handout or paycheck. Maybe they can learn to code.

What do you mean "at some point?"
Watch how quickly the university backs down to their demands and tell who's got the power here.

They are already in power. They are the teachers.

This is crazy. My kid returned to her campus weeks ago. After an initial spike in cases, the numbers have gone down. We actually thought, at one point, that she would be coming home, but the situation has stabilized and school is going on. Most of the classes are online, but clubs can now meet and we think football will start soon. I think the kids will be okay.

The critical-theory-obsessed are already in power anywhere elites are in charge, and they have been for some years now. The biggest mistake that we have made as a society in the past few decades is ceding all power in the education system to those who teach and promulgate critical theory and political correctness. It's going to be damn hard to strip it out from the rest of society at this point.
It may be that the most beneficial thing to come out of the Trump admin is that he is calling attention to the problem and directing some action against it. We just have to pray that enough people will see the danger and that the Emperor has no clothes.

Um... elites are in charge everywhere... someone in charge is elite by definition...

Colleges had better be careful what they claim about racism. Look what happened when Princeton sent out a letter to the entire university stating how racist it was:

Remember this when the same people cry rivers when the general public has had enough and demands an end to funding of higher ed. That will be due to the general public's anti-intellectualism, not the actions of the academy.
Paraphrase: You can tell a BU man, but you can't tell him much.

Any university competent enough to deserve to stay accredited will by now have already told the critical race theorists they're delusional, and to bleep off.

Transcode. Or is it Transphobe? I get confused.

Anyone they see in a position of authority like a college are assumed to have infinite resources. They think they can demand that the college take on testing of the whole community (by the way, there is no such thing as a "community" in a modern city but commies keep talking about it as if it is real). In the case of BU the commuting students could be spread out over a huge area. Test it all? In another case last year students demanded all sorts of new faculty posts and amenities, completely missing that they themselves would be paying for it.
I guess Freud was right about projecting, because these faculty sure are projecting their paranoia onto the school.

Yeah, there comes a point where sane people can't pretend there's any coherence happening with this stuff.

Yes, this task must fall on BU because it's not like Boston otherwise has any good medical facilities.
NicoleK at September 23, 2020 10:28 PM
Having known, and been taught by Dr. Robert Brown when he was a professor of chemical engineering at MIT, long before he became President of BU, I can only imagine the tremendous effort it takes for him not to burst out laughing/crying at the stupidity and ignorance of the faculty and students at his institution.
God bless you, Bob. I don't know how you can endure this nonsense, which runs against every bit of common sense you used to impart to your students. Hopefully you are nearing retirement, and can safely ridicule this movement.

Don't forget, BU is the same institution that graduated Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez cum laude with a degree in economics.
