He looks lovely.
As long as people are clean and neat and wearing what they want to wear rather than what they HAVE to wear (e.g., ties, nylons, bras, makeup), old Grandma is all for it.

I just don't care who wins this election. I don't care don't care don't, and you can't make me.
Don't
care

Arcamax, which I will always think of as Lenona's property, is getting very weird this weekend: All the banner stories are anti-Trump, and they all show BIDEN'S photograph.
Okay, yeah, journalism. But I don't understand how you could walk through your day shamelessly after composing stories like that.
Crid at November 1, 2020 6:55 AM
Yonder. (Link may rot).
• Inexplicably convincing.
Crid at November 1, 2020 7:11 AM
I got a pop-up ad from Planned Parenthood earlier this morning, telling me this election was all about healthcare and urging me to vote Democrat. The picture in the ad showed Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Senate candidate for NC, Cal Cunningham, in a photo collage. The person in the prominent position in that collage, the visual focus, was not Biden or Cunningham, but Harris. Interesting that the head of the ticket and the local candidate were both placed in subordinate positions to the vice presidential candidate; making the message, vote for Harris.
Conan the Grammarian at November 1, 2020 7:48 AM
This election isn't Trump vs. Biden; it's Trump vs. Not-Trump. Biden and Harris do not engender enthusiasm in the electorate, but Trump does engender animosity.
So, instead of running as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, they're running as Not-Trump, the same winning strategy that propelled Hillary to victory, er, anonymity.
Will that strategy work this time? We'll find out in a couple of weeks when all the votes have been counted. Or in a few months when the lawsuits are settled. Or in a few years when the civil war ends.
Conan the Grammarian at November 1, 2020 7:57 AM
He should show the after-dinner picture, where he's got spaghetti sauce on it. ;-)
Conan: I got the same ad from them, but for me this election is about not having my city looted, pillaged, burned, and then kept shut down for another year, including at least some healthcare. Biden will not send in the Marines. Trump will.
jdgalt at November 1, 2020 8:25 AM
Not sure why you say that, Crid.
I USED to like it because it provided easy access to comments to two columnists. Now, it doesn't. That's been the case for months. Maybe almost a year. Same goes for the comics - it's hardly worthwhile, in that sense.
Lenona at November 1, 2020 9:00 AM
jdgalt, "Trump will."
He will indeed. You don't suppose our reality tv host used Seal Team Six as a campaign prop? You don't suppose the Nigerians were paid to help, do you?

Because you're the one who first pointed it out to us, so I think of it as yours. For the past few months I've been visiting it regularly to get a sense of what's going on in typical media. And this weekend, like at no time in American history, those people are pumping out the voodoo.
crid at November 1, 2020 11:33 AM
I sincerely like it... It's a perfectly middle brow and guileless source of news.
crid at November 1, 2020 11:34 AM
I like it for daily Dilbert comics, but don't read it for much else. The pop-ups obscure the entire page and are slow to arrive, so I'm usually halfway through the strip and get interrupted. If I could find another source for daily strips, not the "classic" ones Go Comics supplies, I'd leave ArcaMax.
Conan the Grammarian at November 1, 2020 11:57 AM
Conan, comic-rocket.com has Dilbert and perhaps any others that you wish.

My regimen of ad-filtering extensions and settings is somewhat burdensome but essentially impenetrable.
Twitter is on fire this afternoon. The world is going to hell, the aroma is delicious
crid at November 1, 2020 1:37 PM
Those boots he is wearing in the picture? High end equestrian boots. Most likely priced north of 500 dollars, unless they are knock offs.

Conservative is inept with media, so I've customized a URL for this, the second life-changing podcast I've heard in two days:
In a better world, it would be distributed as a typical MP3 through the usual channels. It's nonetheless worth saving to disk to review at leisure: Sailer doesn't make bogus citations.
(I've spent a lot of time driving through the hills in a new coupe this weekend.)

META, right?

Men's fashion has sucked since the French Revolution.
NicoleK at November 1, 2020 9:51 PM
Well NicoleK if you work in electronics for ESD mitigation issues it is recommended that workers be as close to nude as possible. How's that for workplace fashion.
Ben at November 2, 2020 5:47 AM
"Men's fashion has sucked since the French Revolution."
And beware your sources if you're short of ideas.
There's no way a business suit and necktie with short trousers and knee socks is a good look for men, regardless of what Gentleman's Quarterly is pimping as 'fashion' that month.
Gog_Magog_Carpet_Reclaimers at November 2, 2020 7:28 AM
I'm late, but I believe that scarf, in the 18th century, was called a stock or a stock tie.
Oddly, when you search on the latter term in Google Images, ALL the models are modern equestrian women!
